Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Running out of money

Hey,
I'm not one to be on this board but why would BB&T advertise BB&T's BANKING app on Food Network today, 10/16/20. Guess they can't afford a merger app, or at least say who the are. Both BB&T and SunTrust still in the dark ages, you better look whats in your wallet!!!

But isn’t it curious after such a MASSIVE advertising spend, and the absolute need to educate the public on a totally new manufactured name, that the most we see 22 months later is “a printed disclosure with the new name”?? I obviously have no idea, but it just smells like the public ridicule of “Truist”, and the hilariously vague tag line “Truist stands for BETTER”, may be causing second thoughts?? I still would bet on Truist as the name, but I wouldn’t be shocked if we went back to the SunTrust name either...

In the hBB&T CB systems they provide a printed disclosure to the customers that Bank will be renamed to Truist soon.

I understand you don’t want to confuse the customer, but that is not really what is being asked here. The “Truist” branding came out VERY strong, then was widely ridiculed, and has since...largely disappeared. Why?

The question is not “why haven’t they done away with every reference to the old banks?”; it is “why wouldn’t you at least equally educate legacy SunTrust and BB&T clients on the new brand NOW (like every other merger), so they will be ready in 2021?” Won’t clients be even more confused when - BAM - the legacy names evaporate and are replaced by a new name at the time of account merging? At worst there is something to this conspiracy theory thing, at best it is yet another example of dropping the ball in this train wreck...

Everything is still BB&T and Suntrust until they merge the deposit accounts which won’t be until later in 2021 so to not confuse the customers they still advertise as BB&T and Suntrust

Nearly 2 years post announcement, and I see almost no “Truist” branding - no “coming soon” type of hype I have seen in every other merger. Even more strangely, we see continued advertising under the legacy brands. The conspiracy theorist in me is beginning to wonder if this bank is planning to revert back to the SunTrust name as soon as Rogers assumes command. Thoughts anyone???

Very interesting. I was riding home from a trip with my wife and several BB&T checking commercials came on the radio. The commercial says “BB&T offers this, and BB&T provides that”; at the very end they discreetly (and almost in hushed tones) add “is now Truist”. My wife, who works for another financial company, had a funny look on her face and said “is something weird going on with your merger?” “Two years and $125 million on a new brand and you are still promoting your old brand?” “It takes no time to record a new radio commercial with the new branding”. I would love to hear from someone with more insight than me, because it is very curious...

I was watching a ball game and noticed the same thing - why the torrent of BB&T advertisements? You have a brand new name that few like and/or recognize, so why are you paying for all these advertising spots to reinforce a brand that is being replaced?!? From my view this whole merger is such a ridiculous mess, it would be extraordinarily funny if it wasn’t for the human cost element.

They shouldn't have paid $125 million for new purple stationary, I'd be broke to!
