Thread regarding NCR Corp. layoffs

A vision we don’t fit into

On another thread here I saw this excuse for which the person got laid off - they simply didn't align with the vision of the company any more. What nonsense and empty words. I wonder what that even means? What kind of new vision is this that most of us obviously don’t fit into?
I hope for the best, because of the remaining workers who work hard and for whom working here means a lot, but the future of this company is not very promising.

I didn’t fit . I transitioned from field tec to level 2 att Unix system5 release 4 / att hardware server support for att products in the 90s. As that product line slow went away I transitioned into ncr window/desktop/laptop support. As that faded away I transitioned in ncr server mpras Unix server and raid support, as that faded I did third part product support windows and hardware for Amadeus account, when that faded away I did third party support for yum brands supporting ce on site supporting Sco Unix and various third party products then when then faded I did Unix, application, raid and various hardware support for nexcom (naval bases) Both with field tech and nexcom help desk. As that faded I went into general level 2 taking escalation from field engineers.
If they think I was not adaptable or trainable would they have allowed me to do so much with them.

They are giving you excuses and poor excuses at that. So don’t listen to their poor us but we have to downsize or you don’t fit our vision. When
Bill Nuti became ceo he was to move to Dayton HQ, but he pleaded with the board his family didn’t want to move so they let him stay in NY office.
This is all about upper management, employees are just expendable toys for them. Like they said in other post run don’t walk. And also you are worth something you are talented, you have something to offer, find a place that embraces your quality and will allow you to grow. This place is not it.

“ Ncr doesn’t think about the the person or what they provided or that they were an asset.”

Well said, and I hope the media learns what this company is doing to hard working people.

Keep posting; I keep reading. I turned down an offer from NCR last week. I can honestly say this site helped me make the choice. I’m a recent grad, and do not want to waste my time with a company that’s not going to value my skills or worth.

To the last poster, I remember when they downsized professional service especially those associated with specific accounts, many of them were hired by the accounts they served while at ncr and within a year or two ncr was let go as a service provider. I helped one of the professional service people with ideas and we took a reload process that was two hours average down to 30 mins average.
So much for cutting people to save money.

I know someone who was laid off and 1 month later asked to come back and help train Serbia on products that they were supporting to the field. He said heck no, that your problem now not mine. We warned you. He also knew once the training was over he would be let go again. We’ve seen this on the Walmart support when it was transferred to India. As well as other accounts.
Ncr doesn’t think about the the person or what they provided or that they were an asset. He also moved 4 time for them. That’s a dedicated person to his job and took it seriously. In the end that didn’t matter to ncr. Older more experienced and more expensive have to go. It’s a sacrifice ncr is will to make for their customers. Screw the employee. You have time, but you don’t know how much. do your research, look on Glassdoor website for workers reviews and here also on the layoff board.
Get your resume out. Try and find a stable company, better yet local or state or fed gov since you can still get a pension from them and retire early, if you choose. Yes they pay alittle less but they don’t out source overseas.

If they can’t even tell or explain this vision it because its about money. That’s how I would take it. Look one or maybe 2 days pay in usa equals a week in Serbia. They’re correct you can’t fit this vision, nor would you or I want to fit this vision.
And that considered a good salary in Serbia.
Ncr become bottom feeders to pay top upper management salaries. Middle class is shrinking.
If you really want ncr news , search “ncr Serbia” to really find the direction they are going.

When I was given a "RIF", I was told there was a new "vision and plan" and that my job did not fit that anymore. Granted I had worked very hard for the NCR, (over 10 years) I asked what the "plan" was. I was given silence and a cold "HR will answer any questions." They didn't. I was simply thrown out and likely replaced by some GA Tech Grad. Don't work for this company...

It’s all about cheap labor; period. I like what someone else said. Don’t walk, run...

Cheaper labor of course. NCR has taken advantage of covid to clean house.22

This is a sign of poor management, in fact it is a sign of no management. The poor id–ts at the top of the food chain, don't have the skills necessary to grow talent, nor to keep great talent. You are better off gone from here.

I was told the exact same. I worked for NCR over 13 years. My question is that why did you not grow me to fit this vision? What the hell was I doing for the last 13 years?
People who do not have industry knowledge at all and are willing to do the job for 50K do align with the vision? Lol I guess they wont fit the vision in 2 years time. Pretty c-appy
