Another 2500 laid off...the plan is to start in November and finish in April. Notably, they are shutting down several key departments in the former Fairchild facility in S. Portland, Maine. The layoffs are in the R and D and manufacturing sectors world wide.

Anyone with even a bit if talent would be mad to work for ON. What would you expect from a company whose senior executives are a bunch of greedy mo–ns with degrees obtained from online colleges?

I agree with your comments, I know of another large semiconductor company looking at this in the April /May timeframe. A time I hope that Covid-19 will be on the downside.

ON Semiconductor has a new CEO Mr Hassane El-Khoury and his main aim is to change the company a lot, into a larger leaner fitter company with a higher gross margin. (Wall street would like to see it north of 42 points EOY 2021)
This does not mean layoff's so much, yes the head count at 35K+ is a high when you look at EM figures to day, but there are tools available. One was tried in Feb 2020 with a retirement package
(Europe has some rather old staff member ratios for example) but along came Covid-19 and not many took it up. I am sure ON will try another early retirement package again in the spring of 2021. Hence a soft way of getting headcount down and margin profit per person up.
