Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

So are you IMPACTED or not IMPACTED?

Post here....my supervisor told me today as he already knows and he is out of town this week. I am IMPACTED, but he can't tell me how until next week.

So he can tell me that I am impacted, but I have to wait until next week to find out how? Is that just my department, or are your supervisors giving you more information this week about how you are impacted? Doesn't make sense.

I am shocked that nobody in Woodcreek IT is affected. Glad their jobs are safe...I was sure they were going to send some IT jobs to Bangalore.

SUMMARY OF PROPOSED EMPLOYEE IMPACTS
We have identified the impact of Reshape on each employee. Each employee will be subject to one of eight possible scenarios. Appendix 3 (the “scripts”) guides you what to say in each scenario. In summary, the scenarios are:
Script # Proposed impact to position Explanation Employee impact
1 No proposed change to unique position or interchangeable pool Either the individual is in a unique position or part of an interchangeable pool which is not reducing in size in Reshape. Employee not “impacted”
2 Position proposed to change immaterially e.g.: change of supervisor/ position title/ insignificant change of work location Employee not “impacted”
3 not for Netherlands Number Category positions Position proposed to change materially, cease to exist or is part of a reducing interchangeable skill pool. e.g.: >30% change to job content (non-NL only) OR position is part of a reducing interchangeable skill pool OR position no longer exists in new organisation. Note: all these circumstances are covered by the category ‘Cease to Exist’ in your Employee Impact List. Employee “impacted”
4 Netherlands Number Category positions only NL NC unique position OR entire interchangeable pool ceases to exist e.g. position ceases to exist in business/country of the incumbent. Employee is “impacted”
5 Netherlands Number Category positions only NL NC Interchangeable Position Pool is proposed to be reduced in number Position belongs to an interchangeable pool that is reducing. Shell will apply the Reflection Principle to determine which individual(s) are impacted by the changes. Employee is potentially “impacted”
6 Non-graduate position which is out of scope during Reshape Position is out of scope during Reshape (potentially due to an independent reorganisation) Employee not “impacted” by Reshape changes
7 Graduate position out of scope during Reshape Graduate is out of scope during Reshape and may either remain in their current position or be moved to another graduate position. Employee not “impacted”
8 Not for Netherlands Number Category positions Transition roles Position proposed as a Transition role, to cease after a defined period follow go-live Employee “impacted”

He told me I would receive an e-mail on January 11th and org charts released soon after that. Based on the responses, looks like it is different for everybody. Some will know their fate tomorrow it seems.

He should be impacted for being such a bad manager. If you can’t say anything just say I haven’t heard, org charts come out Monday ... and schedule something for when he is back. No wonder Shell is up a creek.

How typical of management. Drop a grenade, tell you I’ll see you in a week/have a good weekend, and then run away

What area of the business are you from? I think the email and the new org chart comes out Jan 4(Amsterdam time).

“Impacted “ usually means they are going to let you go while your supervisor is out of the office.

I figure 90% of shell staff will be impacted in some way or form
