Thread regarding Micron Technology Inc. layoffs

Job security

Does anybody who currently works at Micron think they have job security? Anyone? I used to think that being here for over a decade meant something and gave me some semblance of job security, but the last several layoffs have taught me just how wrong I was. Experience, knowledge, good performance...none of that seems to mean a thing anymore. Job security is a thing of the past.

"No, your job security is 100% in the hands of your M1 and M2. Sit down, shutup, keep your head down and make your Success Factors look good."

That's why I left when I did. The same mid or low level folks that had been ignoring hard work and real accomplishment while rewarding their hunting buddies, friends, or family for little more than loyalty over the last 30 years were still in charge after CEO and top management change. The difference is now they have the real power and incentive to get rid of head count and those that they don't care for on a personal level are natural targets. Good advice to keep your mouth shut and nurture Success Factor Program.

While I don't work there anymore, no, I never did. I didn't feel the job was secure enough to buy a house, which is unfortunate because my biggest dream was to graduate college, find a secure job and then buy a nice house to live in. But when you don't feel secure enough to buy a house that will hampers any plans you might have had....

Not really. Especially now that some positions that used to be in U.S. have moved to India.
