Thread regarding Giant Eagle layoffs

This needs to stop

Did anybody else notice that managers have gone from bad to worse in the past ten months? It feels like they're taking advantage of the situation since they know the economy is in the c-apper and none of us would dare leave right now, no matter how badly they treat us and how much extra work they make us do. And the worst part is, they're right. I am too scared to quit right now so they continue to get away with it. I wish there was something I could do, but until the pandemic is behind us, I'm stuck.

sooooooooooooo the vp in ohio had to apologize for threatening store managers from a conference call this week bc he threatened to close stores if employee accidents outside don’t stop now. I heard he was going to keep stores closed in the morning if employees don’t stop falling outside in the snow when comin into work early in the am.

excuse me!! what kind of Vice President threatens managers n gets way with it?? wasn’t we a company of care instead of threatening people all the time???? is this the kind of people the company wants running their business or do they even kno what he is screaming about??

so now we will not open early nemore for seniors to shop bc people slip and fall bc they to cheap to pay for snow plows??? I can remember a time were ge actually cared for us n spent money on things that matters. instead we just keep hiring presidents to run us into the ground!!!

when will someone do something about this dude? nobody can call the stupid ethics line bout him since he will retaliate in a blink of an eye!

hey billy, when u gonna get rid of this BULLY????

The Ohio VP does nothing for anyone other than himself or his protected inner circle. If that’s not you, look out! One would think his boss would have the intelligence to see that and make a change, but guess he’s in that circle too!

Couldn’t agree more about the Ohio Regional VP. The guy couldn’t even control himself to remain faithful in his marriage to another store leader many years ago, so how in the world is he going to remain faithful to the company and the thousands of employees he oversees ???

I have a great idea, let’s put his arrogant son in a management position at the corporate office so he can slither around listening for anyone speaking negatively about his daddy, and then report back to daddy so he can retaliate!

Too bad working from home put an abrupt stop to that plan!

Amen to the comment regarding managers working 12 hour days six days a week for the past 10 months. According to the regional Vice President d-bag in Ohio “things are getting back to normal” and store leaders need to get with the program or “get out”. He actually said that on a Monday morning conference call during one of his typical rants chastising and belittling the store leaders after a financially unsuccessful week we had. Then on another call he goes on to tell store leaders that if they “don’t play by the rules {regarding the Covid vaccine} he will personally fire them and that nobody can save them from unemployment”. Are you f-in kidding me this coming from the fat mouth of a regional Vice President?

Who says something like that and gets away with it in this company????? Telling store leaders to “get out” if they can’t get their store back to normal??? Isn’t that against what our CEO claims is part of our core values of “think team” & “respect all”??? How can he say “get out” and think that’s part of our core values? Someone needs to stop this guy before he runs all those who aren’t part of his circle-jerk out of the company!

I dare, wait, I TRIPLE DOG DARE someone in this company to investigate the loose cannon they have running Ohio and all his relentless tyranny tactics to see just how much truth there is in my statement. Why don’t we come forward you ask, perhaps it’s because you record the ethics calls and retaliate soon after!!!!!

Some day the truth will come to light, and likely in a court room with Giant Eagle being sued as a result of this one persons unacceptable actions. I am not the only one trust me and I’d have to believe that at least 55-60% of your Ohio store leaders feel the same exact way and have suffered from his inexcusable actions and disrespect.

If it’s just tough managers, then the masses have it easier than those at central fill, where the tyrannical director screams at and belittles employees right in front of their peers and often threatens to fire everyone in the same breath on an almost daily basis.

Um, just throwing it out there, could it possibly be that said managers have been working 9, 10, 11, 12+ hour days, often times 6 days a week for the past 10 months of this pandemic? Meanwhile they are putting up with all the corporate c-ap, disrespectful customers, and handfuls of lazy employees, all of which helps in making their job much harder than it really should? Wouldn’t that be enough to push anyone over the edge?

I’m not in retail management, but I sure do see what they put up with on a daily basis and wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy!

It has nothing to do with COVID.... It has to do with all of the ex-executives they are hiring from Walmart... Those executives are bringing the Walmart way to Giant Eagle
