Thread regarding General Atomics layoffs

Lay-off meetings taking place

Was called into a meeting today asking if I could cut headcount further. More layoffs on the horizon along with another major reorg.

Time are getting interesting at ASI and people should be careful. I have witnessed a manger give people wrong information and then write the person up for performing the wrong work (even though it was the manager’s instructions). I am too scared to speak up as I need this job and have witness a lot of reprisal. Please be careful. I am older and may not be able to find another job which scares me. I am applying but feel so stuck... I am in an awful position. If you are a younger worker don’t let yourself get in my position... act before you are stuck like me

I can see more layoffs occurring. There is no work to do. I have seen people literally working on a project for 8 month that should have taken 1 week to finish and no one says a thing. Interesting times at ASI. I starting dropping resumes today

ASI is going to have a very difficult time in at least the next 4 years. Drones are the bread and butter for ASI and only outdated drones. ASI can easily disappear if they are unable to land a next generation drone contract. Very difficult times for anyone in ASI!

I was actually instructed today to not work so hard. “ We have less people and shouldn’t produce more work please take more breaks” - my supervisor told me today. How is one suppose to handle this type of instruction?

I thought we were suppose to lay-off good people. All I notice now is more people not doing any work. The work load hasn’t got harder but the turn around times have increased 10 folds. It’s crazy to me how badly managed GA is

I was recently laid off at Diazyme, a GA affiliate. Which doesn’t make any sense knowing how busy they were. Although profits were down, but not much for them to require layoffs. I truly believe almost every company out there looking to eliminate certain people management might not personally like or don’t get along with, are using the COVID pandemic as an excuse to layoff a bunch of supposedly “bad apple” employees just to save on labor when they really can afford to keep them. It’s truly unfair and not right, but I am so relieved that’s I am not there anymore because I was miserable. So they honestly did me a favor. BTW they were rumors floating around that a second wave of layoffs were coming in December at GA. Now I know it’s true. So sad.
