shell benefits from infrastructure and other things that were financed by taxpayers. Shell gets a free ride while Individuals and smaller businesses have to pick of the financial slack and burden.. This is spun with the cheap argument that Shell is being smart while those stuck paying the taxes are stupid... if everyone acted as "smart"as shell, what would happen?

It’s called being financially smart. As a shareholder, I want them to take advantage of these situations. It’s completely legal and there is nothing dirty about it. Dirty is the amount of taxes governments impose on companies and citizens.

Can you blame Shell and others for seeking tax havens?

The Beatles figured this out over 50 years ago. Government's insatiable appetite for more and more of our hard earned cash to piss away has has only gotten worse in the meantime

Let me tell you how it will be
There's one for you, nineteen for me
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
Should five per cent appear too small
Be thankful I don't take it all
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
If you drive a car, I'll tax the street
If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat
If you get too cold, I'll tax the heat
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
Don't ask me what I want it for
(Ah ah, Mr. Wilson)
If you don't want to pay some more

No wonder Shell makes so much profit in supply and trading. They sell oil to themselves super cheap at a trading point in the Bahamas or Bermuda. Then then re-sell that oil at a huge profit. The profit is made in the tax haven country so no taxes are paid. Real dirty. Other companies like BP are selling expensive insurance to themselves and locating insurance companies in tax haven countries. They then dont pay out any insurance so it is basically a wealth transfer to a location where they dont have to pay taxes.

Wish all us workers could play the same game. I am tired of paying taxes too.
