Thread regarding TechnipFMC plc layoffs

Take the leap

I wasted more than two years of my life on this company. I can tell you without a doubt those were the worst two years of my fifteen-year long career. After a while I started looking for a new job but soon the pandemic happened and I figured I was better off where I was. But with things getting worse and worse, I finally decided to say 'screw it' and take the leap. That was two months ago and I haven't regretted it one bit. My manager now has some actual skills and can help me when I need her to, the work atmosphere is the opposite from the usual FMC toxicity, and I even earn a bit more.

My point is, if you are not happy take that leap. It turns out the grass actually is greener.

Proud to say the above post by me has come true. After getting paid a nice severance package, I landed a new job within 2 weeks with a great company in a very stable industry, and a much higher wage. Feeling very blessed and very much at peace now. However, I feel for the others not as lucky as me, or those that are still living this nightmare of uncertainty everyday.

I've no choice now. The brilliant minds decided it was a great idea to let people like me go a week before Christmas. I guarantee everyone, I'll end up with the better end of the deal when things start to explode and I'm not there to save their world. I'll be sitting somewhere else with a thicker wallet.
