I keep seeing the company layoff good people only to realize they needed those people two months later, then MPC posts for the position. What gives? Are we that incompetent? Seems expensive and not very efficient..

Another company that bowed to the will of the activist investors. A company's greatest asset is its people, or also potentially the greatest liability. As with all "leaders" who are actually narcissists, they keep people who are corrupt like themselves and get rid of the talent that is self motivated and intelligent because they see them as a threat and cannot understand them. When actually the people they kicked out were ones that were allowing them to look intelligent, when they really aren't. Truth wins in the end, but what will be left of Marathon once the activists ditch the stock and walk away? For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Can't fight the laws of nature.
That’s exactly what happened at my location- key individuals in key positions were eliminated a few months ago, now corporate has reposted those same exact positions and responsibilities externally. Rather than being furloughed, they are now excluded, which cost not only valuable human assets, it cost MPC a pretty penny in severance packages. I am personally aware of this occurring in San Antonio, La Palma, and three assets.
The biggest loser of the layoffs was MPC.
