16+ years... had one of my best years in 2021 and was let go.... you get exposed to a lot of new stuff and new ideas, but Amex is not known for retaining talent as they don’t want to pay people what they are worth..... I have to agree with the sentiment that Amex just doesn’t care at the leadership level.

Amex is not the company they portray themselves to be. Employees must write their own annual reviews, and managers don’t even look at the reviews when they decide the ratings based on a bell curve. Favorites always get the best reviews. I know this because I was a manager at American Express for over 30 years.
I left voluntarily earlier this month and I’m glad I did after many years there. Bonus is terrible this year and no merit increase so many are trying to leave or get a severance package if displaced. Leadership doesn’t care. It’s business as usual and lots of layoffs are still happening. Will be org changes for another month.
