With only a 3 week notice, delivery drivers nationwide were laid off. Panera has decided to move to 3rd party delivery only, making DoorDash their #1 delivery service. It's a disgrace, and it shows that corporate doesn't care about anyone other than themselves; where they can make sure they can maintain their high salaries, while simultaneously making thousands unemployed. There is absolutely no loyalty in this company. I've worked there for 2 years now and I've never felt like Panera had my back, or "we [were] in this together." No we're not. It's all about them. We didn't even get hazard pay or free meals when the pandemic first started. While they were able to do their jobs from their own homes, corporate Panera decided they didn't think we deserved a higher pay even though we were keeping the company going. That's all they care about, without authentic appreciation. You might say, "that's just business," but that doesn't make it right. It's hard to find good paying jobs right now; Panera would rather save a penny and let thousands of hard working employees go over loyalty.
