I haven’t given up hope of trying to get out of this place. I know it’s always better to find a job while still employed but I’m finding it difficult and I’ve been looking for over 6 months. I have had interviews but still no offers. I’ve been networking, using LinkedIn, and sending out my resume weekly. Any ideas on what else I can do to help speed things along?

Still here for now and staying as positive as you can. I don’t like the emails that discuss the attendance policy and you get penalized if taking a Sick Day. More than 5 in a year and get a final warning. Definitely looking you owe it to yourself to stay on top of any possible openings out there that look decent. Government position whether it’s federal or state actually might be better nowadays.
I gave up after a year. At 56 it was me or some 20/30 year old. So if I was gonna make half at what I made at ncr I just change to a standard 8 to 5 job and no pager. I don’t know what your experience is in so it hard to give you advice, as far as technical support I had better luck outside of banking and retail jobs. If your younger look in the medical field or government local state federal type jobs. One company BD becton Dickinson work on those machine’s in hospitals that nurses have to sign in to get items for patients and it dispenses them.
They make over 100k with overtime. So think outside the ncr box , even appliances repair. Just depends. In my early 30s I should have switched to a laborer that could not be outsourced . Anyone on the software/developers or hardware developers side has to compete with the world now for work.
