Thread regarding Sungard Availability Services layoffs

No trust in Sungard

I worked for SG for over 12 years. I watched the company go down the drain failing to keep up with competitors while charging a premium. I saw customers leave in droves for better solutions and better pricing. I watched SG lay off their Sr. Engineers for cheap overseas Jr. technicians, I listened to customers complain about missed SLA's and poor customer support and service.

Sungard was the leader in their field, now they are trying to play catch up with high debt, poor talent and vision. Yet they wonder why they can't bring in new or repeat customers. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to see the complete and utter failure that is Sungard.

Those poor customers. Some of them have been with the company for a long time and don't have a clue if they're still getting a good deal. Or if they ever were. For a few of them it has been, or might soon become, a lesson in never being so enamored with a "partner" that you don't seriously explore other options every so often.
If I could do it without legal issues I would reach out and remind a few that it's not a marriage and that they shouldn't feel any shame whatsoever in shopping around.

There are still very many talented and experience people working at Sungard AS. Roll back the clock and Sungard absolutely had some of the very best in the industry!

Sadly the damage the previous CEO (and his executive cronies) did to the company might be unrecoverable. The vision was to bankrupt the company! Mission accomplished.

The amount of offshoring was the nail in the coffin.

SG has been losing more business than taking in since 2009

The company is losing money and customers.

If you don't want to believe it then you should reach out to the former employees who've been terminated since the beginning of 2021 for a reality check.

If anyone still believes their position is safe, they're operating under an illusion.
