Thread regarding Kroger Co. layoffs

Manager bonuses.

Our store received out yearly bonus. 178%. Sounds like alot until you realize the bonuses structure was changed after the pandemic started. They knew it would be a record bonus for the managers. Can't have that. I ended up getting 21% more than I got the year before. After all the things we went through this past year. Not even close. Knowing we got our years sales budget in the first half and profit first quarter.
Salary managers got paid first half early. When the company had more cash. Also taking the liability off 2021. Most of the managers didn't want it. It put them in a higher tax bracket. Most of the store manager's got a 200% bonus anyway. But now they have extra cash to pay rodney $50,000,000.
I know complaining about bonuses seems strange with everything that happened last year but having to put up with out of stocks, poor quality product, customer that go out of their way to yell at us for having a sign requiring them to wear a mask. Then I get to do it with less hours (sales per man hour up $100 from last year with added tasks).

I don't know what division you work at, but manager's in our division are just clerks. Departments hours are such that departnent manager's are just apc's with extra tasks. My store manager/assistants (we have 2) run all day. Doing everything from building ends to cleaning the backroom.
Now I will say our division executives are disconnected and clueless. They just spout off the kroger talking points without a clue to what it takes at store level. They might as well say "I am going to cut another 50 hours out of your schedule and add more things to do but you can get it done." Our division president was a store manager for 6 months. Just long enough to get it checked off her promotion box. Both VP's have never worked in a store before.
Bonuses are part of a manager's pay. Most of us department heads don't really make anymore money than our union clerks. I make less than a Fred Meyer cashier. So Bonuses are important.
Our division won't even let you spend money on food unless it is Thanksgiving or Christmas and only if you have the money in the employee fund ($10 per employee per year).

Boo hoo with bonuses. What about the associates that actually do something unlike management and district staff that does nothing. The associates are on the floor EVERYDAY as MGT stays up in the office eating pizza, drinking coffee and gossiping. Wow!!! Maybe it's time for more layoffs!!!

Be glad they didn’t fire you before bonus layout. They burn through SM like snoop dog through weed.
