Thread regarding Best Buy layoffs

Reorg news coming Feb. 10th

My store was selected to run a "pilot" model for just about a month. The stores were supposed to be curbside ONLY but the GMs at the pilot stores pushed back on that because they didnt want to deal with p-ss-d off customers. So we limit "" the stores occupancy.

Theres basically 1 to 2 people per department every day. They're spread very thin. I work merchandising and I cannot complete my duties due to there needing to be extra people on the inventory side of the warehouse.

Word on the grapevine is that layoffs will be coming with the reorg of stores are over staffed.

They're laying off 30% of their staff. My husband got laid off this afternoon. Offering PT to keep benefits but can't guarantee the hours will cover benefit costs. Or you can take 6 weeks of severance.

Our GM just told us big changes are coming to Best Buy but won't tell us what to prepare for.

My store was also selected for this pilot. Without outright giving me any info, my GM basically implied that there would be layoffs with severance pay, and they would be stripping the store down to only those with open availability. According to him, this model of only having 1-2 employees per department is being pushed on a national scale, and there will likely be layoffs in every store in the US. And if you were thinking of transferring, there are no positions open for any store in the country.
