I know of two people who were fired in the last several weeks. Not laid off, no severance offered. Just pack your stuff and leave. This has me worried since I know one of them was an excellent worker. I can't figure out for the life of me what reason they could have found to get rid of him. Is this their new way of doing things?

@aaci Spot on. That’s exactly what happened to me. They set you up to be front of the line for the next round of layoffs by finding any thing they can (I know one person who went to HR looking for help with a terrible manager; HR sided with her & but then she was laid off because she had a file. Another person got a written warning for sharing she was being harassed by her manager. You read that right.) You can either ride it out & hope it turns out OK, or leave.
Wrong! Salesforce has been targeting and firing employees at all levels recently fabricating or exaggerating sometimes minor and insignificant cause that is not damaging to company or employees. The word is out on the street about Salesforce. I know of several casualties of top talent in the past weeks. You will know it when it happens, so don't be surprised.
I wouldn’t worry, there’s legit reasons why people get fired. The process of firing people is grueling and is extremely risky (wrongful termination suits) when it comes to how the PIP is defined, which is why a layoff is easier.
