Thread regarding General Atomics layoffs

Employees still leaving voluntarily for higher paying jobs...

Talk about "Brain Drain!" All the smart people left or are leaving. Remaining people are just the lazy dumb ones. =/

Also heard talk of GA selling certain divisions in 2021!

Any young employees that stay at GA long term I would not classify as a top performer. Who are they learning the top skills from? Below average low performers... that is not a formula for producing high performers

The poster might sound irritated, but they are telling the truth. One of my employees told me last week she is leaving for a tech company up north that will offer her an attractive stock package for this publicly traded company. She is one of my best employees too. What am I supposed to say to that?? If I were a younger person, I would have joined her!!
GA needs to either change its culture or pay more, esp our younger employees. Without new ideas, we are to going to become extinct like the Dodo bird!

I think the person who is bashing that one poster is just hurt that he lost his job, and welcome to the world of the defense industry. Profits above common sense! and for those babbling over which party increases the budget having been in the industry particularly the aviation defense industry. Increasing/decreasing a budget will have little effect on a company that does not know how to manage its way. GA will falter not because of 46 but due to the company's misguided approaches. I could only image how it felt to be a supervisor choosing a person whos been with the company for 23 years and sits at his desk the entire shift over a person who was a decent employee. yup, mind numbing!

I've done well in the 25 years working for GA, I'm nearing retirement and I'm too old to move on to a different company. Again under 44 our work load went up and decent deployments were given. now the dynamics have changed since the war on terror has shifted to management rather than mass active engagements, its multifaceted subject that leads down many paths and thats just not worth the time. In all GA definitely needs to do some soul searching but to bash a company and its workers is sad, i pity you!

Are you okay? trying to bash someone for a job they choose to keep is simply dumb and while you may be correct about the skillet of certain GA employees that wasn't the case in the late 90s and early 2000s. typically under a certain party funds then to go down, but under 44 our purchase orders went up and it was a good job to hold considering the state of things. I worked for GA for 13 years and decided to leave because of the arrogance of some of the workers and for the very simple fact that they had no vision. i found it funny how people thought that their old outdated tech was job security and those in charge were not able to imagine a more capable company creeping up on their home turf.

Actually your information is wrong. But you have been at GA since the 90s and skills are so outdated you don’t even realize how out dated you are. GA has out dated technology that no one else uses - kind of like your skill set. Spending didn’t go down it went up - GA lost contracts bc they had people like you working their selling technology that no one wanted... this more money was spent on modern technology.... all one has to do is look at defense spending budget ... it’s not hard to verify but GA employees skills are so outdated it may be asking too much to look at data and use common sense

i was with the company since the late 1990s and our programs were ramped up under 44. 2017 till 2020 our budget was cut layoffs were given out and we nearly pullout of countries that need our help to survive. you are the one misinformed!

You seem to be very misguided. Please look at spending under 44... spending was down every year... under45 spending up every year... spending down this year... I hope you’re not an analyst or maybe that’s why GA fired you

The Defense Industry has always done pretty good regardless of who's in charge, the defense lobby is too powerful. Go cry under a rock!

yeah, my group has had enough people leave that...AFTER the layoff we had to start hiring new people. Weird, right? Now we have to spend time training them. definitely concur with above poster – GA is bleeding talent to Tesla, the new Amazon location, Grumman, etc. SO DIFFICULT to find AWESOME talent .. and i'm not talking about the community college kind....sorry if that offends...either we need to start paying people more or make a change in our work culture. I mean - if GA were SO great, we'd have a stock like Tesla at $800 plus right?? we'll become a dinosaur soon if this talent keeps leaving!!!!

You obviously don’t understand the state of areospace or defense! Defense always suffer under people like 46! And 46 is a lot worst than most on defense... So contracts and government spending will be down!
