Thread regarding Collins Aerospace layoffs

WV Plant likely closing soon

An email was circulating from corporate hq to select upper plant management that Collins was weighing its options regarding the WV facility due to a huge downturn in productivity / profitability. This month being the target date.

Truth is, there is a lot more to that story due to a large (preventable) covid outbreak as well as a pretty big internal management scandal at that location

An upper manager at the plant once told me that some of Corporate refers to the Union WV plant as their 'WV Mexicans' based on the pay scale at that location and the type of work they do there.

My mom grew up in Sinks Grove WV in the 1940's.. Last year my aunt died and we drove to the funeral in Union, WV and drove right by the Collins plant. I didn't know it existed so it was somewhat of a shocker seeing that. It was certainly a double-take moment! Hope it survives. Not like there's any other job market in Greenbrier County!

Previous plant manager was a total buffoon. The new plant manager is far from impressed with how the computer network side of things is being handled. It took Collins over 3 weeks to get his email working properly. Whether he is able to make any worthwhile changes or will wind up instructed to close the plant down remains to be seen. Meanwhile, the ACE gurus accomplish about as much 'continuous improvement ' as our nations politicians. The one runs around and does whatever suits his fancy without checking to see whether his actions will act detrimentally to employees. The other... doesn't appear to serve a purpose at all.
