I think this is a double-edged sword. When people choose this and show that their jobs can be done fully from home, how long do you think it'll take Salesforce to lay them off and outsource those same jobs to another country where it can get three or four employees for the price of one? I really think this is a realistic possibility.

"Fully" remote means they track your phone to know from where you log in, where you are and what you do. They send reports to the management daily about all remote and not remote employees. Truly surveillance big corporation that kills the spirit.
Creates a 2 class system with some legacy mgmt expecting everyone to be in the office and those people will be favored over the remote people. That happened Pre-pandmeic.
They’re reducing their carbon footprint by removing office expenditures. So yeah doing good and saving a f*** ton of $$$ (while laying off people).
Culture has completely dissolved at this place and their ability to produce high quality marketing videos with cinematic quality has increased. Probably from the release of office space.
It's already happening. Take a look at how many positions Salesforce are hiring in India compared to other locations. Even jobs that are semi-remote are at risk.
VERY realistic, but expect it to be gradual - new headcount (growth) first, then layoffs later. Evidence of this method is already there in the reshaping. The "new world" is going to be employees in low cost countries working shift timings to match the "region" they're allocated to (e.g. Manila employee working US east coast hours). Good luck if you live in a high cost city, or high taxed country!
Yup, that plan is probably 12 months in the making already.
As always Salesforce makes this announcement like they are making the world a better place but there are probably sinister plans coming.
Now that they ran out of companies to buy and large customers have had their buy everything sales force makes budgets slashed employees are next.
I would not trust this company and think you can go buy your jumbo new house in the Midwest now and your 200k silicone valley sales force job is safe.......
If that's the case, your job is not safe not because it can be done remotely. It simply means you can be replaced easily remote or not.
