Growing gas business...

I was left speechless when I saw the news that Shell wants to grow its gas business (more than 20%) in the next few years.

This may end up as a good strategy as the coal fired power plants convert to natural gas. Already the price of natural gas is starting to increase in the last few months.

“ Natural gas is considered to be the ‘transition fuel’ to renewables. The growth of the gas will come at the expense of oil, with gas being cleaner burning than oil.”

Only if you’re able to keep it in the pipe and not vent or flare, otherwise it’s likely to be far worse than burning oil.

That was part of the strategy behind the BG purchase. Shell has been trying to do more gas and less oil for the past few years.
