Thread regarding Informatica Corp. layoffs

Is Informatica PowerCenter dying?

Informatica was king of ETL but nowadays I am seeing lot of ETL jobs for Spark/Java/Python!

Does it mean Informatica PowerCenter is sinking Titanic?

When I was at Informatica Power Center & Master Data Management 2 of the 4 core sectors were over the top of the bell curve in terms of enterprise market penetration. Data Replication the 3rd core had to be completely rebuilt and market conditions in the enterprise space surpassed efforts to redesign that product.

The new cloud offerings coupled with most companies doing consolidation of software vendors-i.e. using one Data Lake instance rather than many instances have reduced the need for integration. This has opened the door for many companies to offer integration functionality as part of their product offerings.

Before Informatica went private for a period of 4 years acquired no companies and developed 1 new product. That is telling about the current state and future capabilities for growth.
