COP employee here. Over 10 years. It s—s. Leadership lies. Managers lie. Favoritism rules the day. If you go drinking with your boss, kiss up, abs completely throw yourself on the ground in humble supplication, you’ll be fine. The leadership has a narrative (number 1 independent, unconventionals rule, balanced this, well positioned that) and if you challenge it, you’re gone. Lots of smoke and mirrors. The “next big thing” is always right around the corner. Classic conman technique at a corporate scale. Read: Niobrara, GOM, PRB, Moxa, CLAC, North Slope. There’s always a reason it doesn’t work, but somehow it’s never because leadership didn’t bother to consult with technical experts. Solution? Get rid of the technical experts. Good luck to you and I sincerely mean that, but start looking for a new job NOW. In fact, it’s probably already too late.
GlassHalfFull you work in COP HR?
So GlassHalfFull, has someone whispered in your ear yet? If so, you might want to wait until the layoffs are over before taking a victory lap. If not, you might soon be reflecting on your 8-year career and wondering what's next.
Hey Concho. I'm with COP. Have you guys had any layoffs, yet? Also I want to comment on the COP layoffs threads. Some people over there are horrible. Those comments do not reflect working at COP. I suspect trolls and people that were previously laid off because of their horrible attitude. I've been with COP for 8 years and truly like the people I work with. This whole thing will be an adjustment for both companies. I look forward to meeting many of you and hope this works out for all of us.
I think hell froze over...
Real action is on the COP board.
