Thread regarding John Hancock layoffs

Did it have to be so cold-blooded?

I was more shaken by the way I got laid off than the fact that I actually lost my job. Suddenly and without notice.
Even the companies that are not known for respecting workers did not hand layoffs to people in such cold blooded manner. Did it have to be that way? Wasn’t there some other, more humane way?

Good luck to all who are affected, perhaps this is a good thing that happened to us - that we are no longer part of this circus.

Doing this during a pandemic when all signals from management are positive. Things must be way worse than meets the eye. Very disappointed that JH executed this so poorly while still pumping out returns to shareholders and executive bonuses, leaving employees without an income. All the transparent talk from the senior leadership team is window dressing when the boots on the ground treatment is like this. Don't kid yourself, the values are fake and we're just a number.

Going to a better life, whether you're a VP or grunt.

Wished could have asked questions, but was let go from someone in an entirely different department. Assuming that was because because the manager through to VP also let go (likely blindsided also). Was not in in-force and lots of work in our value stream, doesn't jive.
