I left last year because I couldn’t stand the atmosphere. I went to a company where I thought it was much better, because those whom I asked described the situation as much better than it really is - people get used to bad conditions and do not even realize how bad is the position they are in. Long story short, maybe it sounds weird, but I’d love to come back here. What is the situation now, are there any improvements?

Depends on where you came from or are thinking of going back to but it’s still the same maybe worse in some areas and more layoffs have started and more will come through the next year or longer. With that and the potential buyout you are probably safer staying where you are or going somewhere else instead of trying to go back.
