This place is doomed to fail. They've tried to save it so many times in so many ways and has anything improved? That's a big NO. If you're smart, you are already looking for something new at a company that at least has some kind of a future, unlike this place. Get out while you can.

West Central Florida--- The plant is almost non existent , unless its the other side of the river where the rich folk play and management lives. they have not put a red cent into this plant since the dismal failure of "Prism" ----nor do they have any intention in the future the other day guys on here bragging about how they think because of some fiber strands they are somehow exalted and above the copper Jockeys---they think that the fiber makes them more valuable really ? Once all the fibers are pulled into the business's here, your done no need for you --not nearly as many of you ----many areas will never see any fiber they will wait until 5 g rollout is complete and go from there...good luck monkeys they now have you picking at each other it will get worse
Has any Union tech actually been fired over unrealistic metrics? They are creative in building the illusion that you will be terminated but in the end people usually leave in fear or get fired for something else like being out of route.
Yeah that's what I was thinking. Remember dialup days when everyone wanted second line for their modem and you did multiple throws just to get a pair?
I also remember inside wiring to install the jack for the second line at their computer. There was no tag at demarc and tell them call an electrician or their IT guy.
Have any of you tried to come up with or make two good pairs for a bonded install lately? Maybe clean up or fund a pair so their DSL actually runs what it's supposed to run. How about fixing one of those chronic static or no dialtones?
This is all day every day. Getting five good jobs is not just as easy as it seems.
20 years ago we were doing 2, 3, and 4 item f1 and f2 LSTs. No plug a jumper a jumper in dslams. 75% of the x-connects were aerial access points. Every house wanted multiple lines for phone, fax, internet, kids line, parents line. These houses all needed drops and iw/jacks installed. There was very little “tag” at the demarc.
20years ago the plant was prestine. Nothing has been maintained since then. Can u do the same thing at 40 u did at 20. Doubtful. 20 years does alot to u. The plant, waiting on hold Things r not the same as 20 years ago.

20 years ago most jobs were tag at demark. Easy to to 5-6 jobs just running a jumper and checking demark. These days we do Pair bonds, full installs and Gpon and they take take much more time.
Also have you noticed how many open/run-over Pedestals there are that aren’t getting fixed? How may terminals covered with tattered garbage bags have you seen attempting to keep the rain out?
The plant is not being maintained and it is way easier to get a repeater for no fault of your own these days One good rain storm and you’ll have several.

Wrong. Showing up and be where you are supposed to be is not good enough. You have to meet their metrics. Which we all know is impossible. They want five good jobs a say. Then, they load you two or three a day. Just moved repeats.out from 5 days to 30 days as a chance to sc--w you quicker. You are setup for failure from the start. Can't even create jobs anymore to try to manipulate the system. Anyone who thinks showing up and being where your supposed to be ensures a job is sadly mistaken
Make them walk you out. If you do nothing more than show up and be where you're supposed to be, as a Tech, it will take them so long g to fire you that you'll make more $ than VSPP and UT won't be taxed at 40%.

Why? Everyone smart is looking for a job, they just haven't found one yet. There are a few that believe the lies of their supervisors tell that everything is going to be OK. And then, there are the ones that just don't get it and believe they are needed and can't be terminated.
They have not tried to save it, Nacchio started the downfall with his false revenue statements and then the lining of his and other execs pockets. That then started a trend of Golden Parachutes and asset liquidations and buying companies then restructuring bigger debt loads.
