Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Those aren't SCABS...

80 sub contractors working between Oakland/Lodi corp today alone. Probably the same in other areas too. Those aren't SCABS, they're your replacements. Just saying...

This is sad That so many employees on this site If you keep thinking that you will have a job within a year. This is very very serious My advice is layoffs are coming really fast. If you don’t prepare You stand a massive chance of losing everything you worked for. Do yourself a favor and start looking, it won’t be easy, but you are going to take a pay cut whether you like it or not. Don’t keep thinking you’re safe because your not Do you homework. Management knows it and if they have ba--s they will tell you. We are constantly told!Cablevision you can forget about ITS OVER

It's already started happening, just look around you. Nobody knows when the exact end will be but it will be here sooner than later I'm sure. My guess, non-union employees will be first, followed by union employees, more than likely once their CBAs expire. This is how Altice wants to run their business and unfortunately there is nothing anyone can do to stop it.

Does anyone have an opinion about when Field service is done, I know it is coming However I need to prepare. All opinions are welcome

there's one problem. Everyone is always talking "union" and they truly don't even know the meaning. Union is a brotherhood with your fellow employees. All you care about is yourself. You don't care about your fellow coworker going home stressed the f out because he's afraid of losing his job. You don't care that you banged your union brother on some bullish repeat because thats what the company wants. I would call guys when I had repeats on them and let them know what happened. Nobody cares about anybody but themselves. Don't let the union BS fool you. Know who you are surrounded around. Know your people. Know the snakes and keep your eyes in the tall grass. I left 20 years as a top performing tech you know how many guys said "good luck", maybe 3-4. Why? Because nobody wants anybody to succeed. All the union does is maybe protect your job and makes you mediocre. whats the incentive to do better? I get a raise no matter what. Whats the incentive to try and prove yourself to maybe get a promotion. he-l, I get a raise no matter what..... you guys are fools. union brotherhood my rear. The same "brothers" behind you will be the same one walking with you out the door because the company decided you fell at the bottom too many times. At least stank ranking meant something. It meant you were a good tech and you busted your a-s. Sh-t, not you can just sit back and do nothing for 2.5% clowns.

I don’t blame you at all , you probably have a family to look out for. ๐Ÿ‘‡You did the right thing. Times are tough out there and this company could care less as they sit in there multi million dollar homes. As for the techs remaining, let’s not use this sight to bash anyone trying to improve their lives. Instead come together and help out your fellow employees find a job. Because working here is coming to an end shortly. We will need each other to assist with looking for good jobs. You just have to use the Internet to see this place is โœ… done, there is no long term future here at all. The older and longer you wait. It’s only going to get harder COVID isn’t going anywhere any time soon. They just wiped out my buddy 25 years at southerbys auction house. Blamed it on COVID now what is he supposed to do. Help each other that’s all I can say. Good luck gentlemen

I took a package. Call me a scab all you want, I really don't care. I made the decision to leave that s company for a $10 paycut just to not deal with the bs. I loved my job but the company is going to get rid of you eventually and replace you with me. So yea, i get to make $10 an hour less, basically do less work and don't have 1/2 of the stress. Who's the d-mb one? You can try and hide behind your contract as long as you want. It will catch up to you. You're not going to get the same contract you got when you signed up and if you do, they will make it harder. Metrics will be stricter, safety will be stricter etc. You guys cry about bird nests and squirrels in lock boxes. wtf. I

you do realize you can make $25 an hour as a contractor with 0 of the bs right? Oh and 12-15 jobs? Yea no. The positive thing is, I get $25 an hour to slam equipment in with no recourse. You guys get to ki-l yourselves for $5 more an hour and double the bs. Big deal, I don't get all the fringe benefits like holiday pay etc but ya know what, I don't have to care about the job anymore after leaving 20 years behind me. good luck

Contractors and job security go hand in hand.
Paying someone to do 12 to 15 jobs a day just to drop off equipment at customer home and leave, ha what a joke.
Garbage equipment whatever
Clown show

Clearly they don't know sh-t about cable with a bunch of yes men around what did u expect.

Ride the wave, maybe one day this company will wake up and realize THEY NEED PEOPLE LIKE US.

Be proud of your field/ customer facing employees. They want what u want success while earning a decent income.

Union will help you keep a job nobody wants but contractors. How is Oakland and Lodi doing you don’t want to work here either. Management must go.

The sad thing is this real not a joke anymore. I can’t believe we are going through this. Why does everyone say we’re going to be ok when clearly we’re not. I personally put 100 percent into my job, but if the end result is being laid off. I officially give up will do as least as possible until I see improvements ( which I highly doubt) I guess seeing all these posts I have to get something else. Every one paints a picture of safety but I can’t work under these circumstances it’s not healthy!

Really I guess no one else saw this coming. Delusional All vans sold to contractors, old supervisors working with scabs. There are no vans left, where we are we had 20 teams 14 supervisors and 3 managers. I think we now have 2 supervisors ๐Ÿ™„and 35 guys left. Guess what I’m going to assume we need a different career. Extremely heart breaking? No one cares? If they don’t neither do I
