Anyone hear anything on what the plan with Houston south yard is? Carload volume has been down week over week, more layoffs happened a couple weeks ago. Are they planning on shutting this yard down? It would make since with PSR in full play and all that yard does is transfer trains.....

So Carmen, transportation, and m&w will not be at Houston anymore? I’m wondering if they plan on selling Houston south yard to another rr. The KCS and CP merger is definitely not going to help either. Maybe it will become a KCS/CP yard?
100% reliable in terms of the workforce impacts. Any journeyman that has been bumped in the last year of rounds has had zero chance at transfer. When you’re cut you’re done. That’s their new system. The railroad workforce is getting smaller, not larger. As for locations? Well just take a look at the layout. Houston was closed in ONE day. They went in sent everyone home, that was it. All surrounding areas has already been chopped off. Temple OKC and Alliance all have inflated workforce. Look at the way they’re going and ask yourself are they really gonna keep all those places intact while everywhere else is chopped off completely or bare minimum? The answer is no. Moreno is bad news but he’s just a puppet mouth piece for the levels above. He just does what he’s told to keep them happy. Timeframe? By Fall for sure. Probably summer. Again, plan ahead, and get out before you’re caught out in the cold.
@1fmn+1aGqWkt7 I'm afraid you're right.
What timeframe are we looking at here? How soon till the axe drops?
How reliable is this information?
Red River Division - Moreno - Houston is gone , Alliance , Temple and OKC will be cut in half . All outlying 1 or 2 man points will be closed down . When your cut , you are done . There will be no apprentices to bump out of a job at another location . With the new union rule change any journeyman laid off at a point will be remove from the roster after 3 years . No call back rights
It’s as good as gone. Wait til you see what they hatch by the fall. There’s gonna be a lot of people out of jobs. Don’t say you weren’t warned.
