Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Think you wont be replaced by contractors?

Think again. Contractors are over at the new senior living community in Wyckoff installing 300+ boxes. That type of work used to always go to in-house techs. Why don't you go ask your shop stewards why there are so many contractors working in your area. I'm sure they'll have a great answer for you. The writing is on the wall... good luck.

if you love the job, you would be safer taking a package and working for a contractor.

Altice is going to ruin a lot of people’s lives Don’t be one of them. Start looking for a better life. This place is definitely not worth the stress and aggravation. Don’t be fooled by the nonsense. It’s a dead career all shops used to be filled to capacity. Now all a ghost town. There is no future here anymore as much as we want it to be It’s a done deal

TRUTH soapbox .. They can use a million contracts if they want ..!! They can’t lay me off because of it .. BUT if your in a non union shop , they CAN.. WE have a clause in our contract .. it’s called no reduction of labor with the use of contract labor ... THIS IS A FACT .. do your homework and sign up now.
The only way we can negotiate is as ONE

Nothing has changed at this company I see lol also, not a single one of you have a clue how a union works, including those who are represented by one. This place really gets worse and worse by the day. To anyone still working for Altice, good luck. You'll need it.

Go ask your shop steward? Hahahahaha. Company has every right to use contractors. You should read your contract.

You people are simple af. All of you coming here for real information? It’s a joke. All of the posts like this are just trolling. They don’t have inside info and they have no clue how a union works. I don’t think they have anything to offer you other then stirring the p-t.

One more thing. You have no clue what the future holds for this company or anything for that matter. So pull your chins up, try to look out for one another and save your anger for the real enemy.

Bunch of 5 year old on here talking about drinking kool-aid. I’m sure everyone really takes you seriously lol. Nobody is “anti union”, most people have just realized this place is a dead end no matter who represents you. Ask anyone who left this sh-t ho-e, I bet they’d tell you it was the best thing they ever did. At the end of the day Altice will do exactly what they want. Without a doubt they will find a different way to get rid of everyone.

Bunch of uneducated jack as--s on here
With union or without, they can have as many contractors they want.

I'd worry if I had no rep

Especially for these id--ts that post anti union
Take it however u like BUT,

Unions is just like having group legal be stupid not to use it to stop the bleeding

Per agreement altice cannot fire you while contractors are working.

And for u jackasses that are gonna reply there were contractors working in ur area doing fs work.

It doesn't matter give them as much as u want the more the merrier. (Repeat central)

How did that work for the rest of the Kool aid drinkers.. that talked about it but never signed. Lol
Still think it ain't worth it, smh
I got my job back.....

Peace ✌

Who's side are you on? There's? Mine? Skip the doom and gloom. If I lose my job tomorrow I'm just going to get a new one. I work here because of the money. No more no less. I give a solid 8 every day and if they can me it's their loss.

I really find it amusing how some of these people act like they’ve outsmarted Altice by voting in union representation. Like that’s going to stop the billion dollar monopoly who has found the legal loophole in literally everything. Sure, their layoff plan backfired the first time but you better believe they won’t make the same mistake twice. When they want you gone, they’ll make sure it’s permanent next time. The only person you’re fooling is yourself if you think for one second there is any future left in this place.

Sure that can’t be the reason for layoffs, for now unless you have a union. But that also won’t save anyone. The company wants no overhead. Contractors are cheap with no benefits. When you’re contract runs out The company can do whatever they want. Remember you are not safe at all. You are an at will employee. This equals- you can be out of work tomorrow. Don’t think they need you because unfortunately they don’t.

Wyckoff is a town serviced by a union depot I see that contract really worked out well

It’s because no one cares. I’m sure they do now, but no one decided to sign union cards like our shop. Unfortunately we have nobody left, 1 union will not stop the plan. I feel really bad for any techs still working here. The stress is now doubled 1-being the job 2- not knowing when you’re last day is. I see it as really soon
