Even with all the reductions I still see many bloated areas in IBM. In your opinion, which ones need a haircut the most?

Lyndil employees start July 1, check.
If IBM sticks to their past behavior, this week should be interesting. Let’s check the big board. Restructuring money is allocated (check), it’s may (check), we are within a 30/90 day window to influence end of quarter earnings (check), IBM needs to show progress on their previously announced restructuring (check), and GTS continues to be a drag on earnings (check). It seems the stars are aligned
Synergy teams can go. They add no values.
Yo barber gimme a cru cut ✂️
As the first poster on this page said Management especially band 10 and above is the issue. Address it and IBM survives. Don’t address it and IBM struggles and most likely fails. It’s just that easy. For those watching at home you’ll know success vs failure via the number of bands between the bottom and the top. 10 or above is failure 9 is questionable, with 8 or below leaning towards success. AK publish the target, and schedule the interviews over the next 45 days. You inherited a decent management chain from Redhat. Expand it out with the goal of reducing the legacy by 50% You will be surprised at who doesn’t make the cut.
This posting had received the most replies of any posting in the last 3 months What does that tell you ?
Program firings don't work. Let people vote on who gets fired. Could be same band or higher. Then fire the ones getting the most votes. People know who is dead wood in their areas.
@5osj+1aIvibXK I get alt least 3 or 4 of those "Action Required" emails per day but then I read them and it's not clear exactly what they want me to do. Now I'm getting "IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED" emails I guess to stand out from the regular ones.
The Barber is Indian
The useless teams sending you emails "action required" refresh blah blah.
Mail rule>trash bin
“Alliance managers” are completely useless.
Any teams/people with “global” in the title in GBS are useless bloat that need to go. IBM has openly de-invested in clients in the West in favor of those in developing countries for at least a decade now. Hence keeping fully staffed teams in the US and Europe makes no sense whatsoever. Just being practical...
Hard to tell who is who these days. In federal there are directors that were busted down to managers, and managers that were busted down to reps ... but their egos don’t see them update their job titles so that folks know who to call. Most are worthless in their new job, but they shoved their top performers out so they can take their jobs.
Agree with @prb and we should provide the execution plans to AK. Reinterviewing for the job alone is likely not going to cut it on some levels of management because as mentioned there they will try to defend their job and their opinions are subjective. They need to be tested, meaning product portfolio knowledge certification exams where they are aligned to. Many managers only study to be "certified manager/executive" which is not really useful to the business if they have no clue what products they are dealing with. Wider portfolio coverage, more exam requirements. Managers/executives need to study doule or triple of what they're requiring sabordinates to do.
Arvind, cloud, hybrid cloud.
No brainer. Band D and above. Higher the band, less value.
Totally agree with you eh!
Canada
Sorry I’m BALD. Don’t remember too much about hair. Why did you have to go there? Now I feel inadequate!!!
Wonder if IBM has cancelled their TWO on order?!

The executives team is BLOATED and many are ID--TS!!!
Many deadwood executives for sure. How about IGF too? We can perhaps get rid of some of the debt with it?
Channels would be an excellent target as well. Bring nothing to the table but added cost.
Anyone with grandiose but nebulous titles such as "Account Portfolio Lead" or "Portfolio Leader". Believe it or not, these are real UK job titles.
Chop anyone with “advocate” in their title.
C&CS. Cut the lot of them. VPs reporting to VPs is bullocks.
Give that whole b#tch a baldy sour. IBM could shut down right now and the impact on the world would be zilch. What a worthless piece of fa-t marketing company. Smart tech my #ss!
Yes Digital Sales is total waste
Your area op
Managers for IPC and Security compliance leads.
Calling them waste would be a monumental understatement.
Digital Sales ,definitely!!!!!
Digital Sales could literally be completely eliminated 100% with no adverse effects
Management obviously... Why do we have to charge $350/hour for services in C&CS in the US? Because a band 9 cost is $240/hour... most of that money goes to pay the lavish compensation of IBM's useless management...
All management above first line managers... in C&CS we have many VPs reporting to other VPs... WTF!
There are still way too many VPs in this company.
What does CIO do?
Executive management, period. Every team in every function has been cut below sustenance level and there is no further savings there. In fact most of these need new investment. But executive management continues to grow even as the organizations shrink. That makes no sense. Now add the burden that some of these executives actually think they're qualified to tell us what to do, which further reduces the productivity of the few skilled people we have left.
There are way too many Renewal Reps running around for a business that is in decline. We need more transactional revenue. Dump 1/3 of them and put that resource into the Field.
management plain and simple
Re: "The Barber is In"... this sounds like a troll. Offers nothing, asks for anything. Take care.
So true!!! I just looked in blue pages and in less than 5 minutes, I found 46 Directors and VPs who have NO direct reports. That is just shameful when they are scuttling the real workers on a daily basis
