Ok I see the point new generations can’t. They can’t because of the way company have evolved into selfish entities, and they don’t care about the employees as much. It is a different playing field .

In older generation job hopping was a negative as it might appear you were not reliable.

And pension was a big plus especially when they were matching your contribution. Glad I have one tho it was cut out years ago.

10 years and gone ? The long timers there had pretty decent pensions, a pension plus account and their 401k. This was tremendous. The new generation is getting only a 401k while their CEO and LT cry the blues due to covid but still manage to heist millions. Stock holders get no dividends while Hayford robbed 28 million in a pandemic.11

"That Generation also committed. New generation don’t."

Wrong. The new generation knows to play the game. Get in, get experience and move on. The days of sitting at a job for 10 + years are long gone. That's when you become a target to get replaced.

I was just given a RIF. At the company for less than 2 years. It was out of nowhere, for no reason given. Avoid this company at all cost.

If Mike Hayford and the board only knew the secrets being squelched by the ITS LT Malfia dating back to the Nuti days they would all be gone right down to the 1st level manager level in many cases. Not all but many to most.

They really need to cut the top brass not the bottom. They are sucking ncr dry. Stock sucks no dividends. And the ce make. 10 million extra on the pandemic year of 2020. How was that even possible with all the outsourcing and cutting. They don’t care about people or damage they do.

Back then in the 70 80s NCR was a dream job to get. I don’t blame them for staying. Leaving probably a 6 figure job is hard or even upper high 5 figures.

Who keeps a job for 44 years? One with a good job that pays well. I was laid off and most company want to pay you half to start over. I’ve talked to several laid off folks and they all had to restart over. It’s not easy to do. So you ride the wave till it hits you. There are unknown variations as to why. Maybe the sole breadwinner? I believe they were there long enough to be grandfathered into still adding to pension.
That Generation also committed. New generation don’t.

44 years because I loved what I did and for most of the time, I loved the people I worked with. Started as FE working on mechanical, then early electronic. After 12 years moved to Systems Engineering and programming. Then Technology Services, Professional Services. After the AT&T deal, everything started going bad. Held on last few years as I was only expert in my group and too close to 65 to leave (health care).

There are still plenty of bad prunes on that dead tree called "The New NCR". Swing that axe a little higher and you'll hit them all hiding at the top being protected by their good old boy friends.

It was never an honorable company. You sound like one of the good old boys that hung around like a old prune on a dead tree. Glad you are gone, better for the new NCR.

The new leadership team in 2018 is a cancer on the soul of NCR. I was there for 44 years. The first 43 were great, then the bu-t holes came in and wrecked it. I am now glad I am now out. NCR is no longer an honorable company to work for. Get out as fast as you cam.

The axe needs to swing higher than that. Bill VanCuren and 50% of his vp henchmen need to go. Between hush hush data breaches, worm infections and manipulation of employee project records to maintain headcount. These are leaders NCR can do without.
