Thread regarding CenturyLink layoffs

Why are poorest performers best treated?

Why would anyone want to work for this company? No raises, no promotions, no advancements? They honestly don’t have a clue how to keep people or talent. I would rather take a risk and be appreciated going to a new company! Yes, they have lost a ton of talented people! Why? Management isn’t fair, they treat other less performers with more dignity than the true performers through garbage metrics that are made up to fail! Basically, it’s a failed company in my books! Favoritism and the good ole club! Why stay? Exit Right!

The author of the post summed up the situation very well. This is exactly how I feel - I've been wanting to leave ever since I realized that my hard work is worth nothing. Big disappointment!

Your only obligation is to meet the metrics set down by management. How you get there is your choice and none of your coworkers business unless they sign your paycheck.

They care more about doing the job right. It’s not rocket science but doing a good job based upon ones own work ethic is critical to success. You may not see it with numbers but you most certainly will see it with satisfaction both internally and externally! The metrics created are garbage and they don’t truly tell the entire picture of ones performance! If that were the case then the company leaders have failed and failed miserably at that! If I had a choice between on line educations and “street smarts”? I’m certainly going with the latter!

The question I have about poor performers is are they truest poor performers who can’t do the job right and get a ton of repeats?Or are they poor performers because they care more about getting the job done right the first time than they do about some f__d up metrics that upper management pulls out of their a$$? Link to failure is only there to bring a tech down not build them up.

I look at it this way. If the companies not going to be on your side then why should you be on theirs? Don’t let that company devalue your existence! It’s all smoke and mirrors! Move on to brighter pastures!
