Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Expanding your skillset?

Retail is changing rapidly and the pandemic has only accelerated the paradigm shift. BBB is not keeping up with the trends and the future of the company looks very doomed.
However, I no longer care about the future of this company, but only about my future, so I am considering enrolling in some courses that might help me keep up with trends when it comes to retailing.

Good you want to enroll in courses to improve yourself but don't do it in retail. Pick an industry that is expanding and growing and in need of people like healthcare, computers, or another skilled occupation. You will never make the money or have the future and flexibility you will have in the other occupations. Look long term for your future.

Sounds like you are are a sensitive little baby who really has no idea what this company is doing or the first thing about economics and customer behavior trends.... Bbby is trending out and that is where all of the real business pros are headed ..out suck up our time and then gone . look at the job listings on careers... sms dropping like flies.. regional recruiters cant get candidates because no one wants to work here.. pay off the 1.5 billion dollar longterm debt and stop hiring executives. check the sec listings of who sold stock last 3 weeks all executives get your head out of your coolu HOME HAPPYHA!!

Sorry but I have trouble believing your CV. Even if you started working at 16 that would make you 46 and your post reads like it is written by someone much younger..if its true..why arent YOU running the company? Seems like you have all the answers.

Reflecting on the entire retail environment bbby is done. 30 yrs of industry management as well as a BA in marketing. Once again we are too top heavy with id--ts that have never run stores themselves. That fact cannot be ignored. Had high hopes for Mt but he is not a leader or very smart. He has too much corporate redundancy that is wasteful and ineffective. Pay off the 1.5billion in long term debt instead of hiring more useless svp's fix it infrastructure In stores. We are done. 5 years tops. Too bad because there is a lot of untapped talent at store level but mt never bothered to reach out.

Job critique website??? IMO many people post here just to complain .and complain some more..there are some positive posts but the constant negativity is the norm. So many think they could "save" the company with their two years of being a cashier. The OP does not ask for any advice..they just say what they are going to do after saying the bbby looks doomed and they only care about themselves. Great attitude! ! So what exactly is their point of posting? To get advice from other people who also hate their jobs?

Lol the two posters below me are the ones who keep the negativity on this board as well, as after all this is a layoff/job critique website. And if you had something to compliment BBB then you wouldn’t be on here. That’s why no real discussion ever happens.

Anyways, BBB I feel like are trying to see what sticks but it honestly seems like they don’t have a clear direction on what kind of company they want to be in 2021. For your situation I would check out some retail based courses through Coursera which are relatively cheap. But for retail, experience is your best teacher and moving on to your preferred company where you truly think you can grow and learn is your best option.

"And you are posting this .why? I swear most posts on here lately are on here to spread negativity"
Care to wager he or she is between the ages of 19-24, taking some type of college business class and living off partial unemployment
