Thread regarding Sherwin-Williams Co. layoffs

Sherwin-Williams Headquarters Building - Will They Really Build This??

Sherwin-Williams has talked, for years, of a new headquarters building. Meanwhile, Sherwin:
1) moved their data center to another location, and also has another datacenter location
2) Merged with Valspar, laying off a lot of people (this was part of the merger agreement which was not disclosed)

As are other companies, Sherwin is containing costs. There is no reason for this new and expensive investment.

Sherwin will be cutting costs/staff, definitely.

  1. The datacenters on 12th street and in Akron are running with a skeleton staff, unlike in the past. This proves they don't have the same requirements.
  2. Remote staff is definitely a cost saver. There is no reason for the onsite staff costs from before.
  3. Valspar merger brought additional expenses (resulting in staff reduction - largely from Sherwin staff, not Valspar, despite what has been reported (or truthfully, not reported))

Sounds like Sherwin will be cutting staff -
1) their data center isn't in the building as in the past - moved to another location on 12th Street
2) Remote staff has worked well, why build up the same onsite presence as before Covid?
3) Supply chain problems
