Thread regarding Lenovo layoffs

WRAL: Article on "Restructuring"

https://www.wraltechwire.com/2021/04/15/lenovo-shifting-strategy-reorganizes-to-invest-in-infrastructure-solutions-and-ai/

For anyone with any lick of common sense at Lenovo clearly knows what this means. Those layoff notifications will be going out in about 6-weeks with exit dates at the end of June.

Let's see what happens. The PC Industry as a whole did well overall in the last year in part due to the Pandemic with the Work From Home (WFH) and remote learning. There were even some talk about whether or not the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) would be able to handle the added bandwidth. Now that those people have their new PCs, will more people need new PCs this year? As people go back to their offices, will they bring their new PC with them or just use what they had and will the companies do a refresh?

Also what about the shortage of chips; already the automobile industry is feeling the effects of that. Don't forget that Taiwan is having a drought right now and that is just adding more potential availability issues to chips. Doesn't matter who is in charge or how good management is, when you can't get the parts needed to build orders, the lack of availability will result in a loss of sales. When numbers drop, the VP's will get rotated to new positions, while the most of the managers will stay, and many at bottom level employee will get laidoff (not the favorites though – they're safe).

Thanks for finally admitting in this thread what I've been saying all along:

1) Lenovo is a Chinese company – period.
2) The people acquired from IBM and Motorola (and pretty much everyone outside of China) are thought of as a burden and are nothing more than cannon fodder to this company.
3) It's all about money and not at all about its people.

QED, b!tch.

rather than buying in to some hysterical anti chinese anti lenovo hyperbole from bison head.

why dont you all , as individuals, be reflective, that being aquired from ibm and motorola that you got a few more years, added to the pension p–t, and this company pays out more in redundancy than the others did.

being a non performing burden on the company finances, just be happy to get a deal and go.

it is not rocket science.

I will say this for them, they did not scale back the severance to 1 month across the board like that thrice–accursed IBM.. yet. This time around, who knows?

I will try again, for Change Chump.

Being in hyper growth and profitable, will not mean people will not be layed off.

People working in underperforming or unprofitable business units will be let go.

In a dignified manner, given a payoff, early retirement, quids in.

The circle of life.

grow up and accept it,

i bet you never even worked for Lenovo, you just dont like a chinese company being successful.

Change Chump.

Wow. Some impressive numbers there. Of course, since it's a publicly traded company, that OBVIOUSLY means that it's "bound by international accountancy laws" and all the published figures are "audited and correct". Because as we all know, corporate China (or America for that matter) ALWAYS tells the truth and we should all blindly trust their words! No lies or cheap corporate language designed to omit important parts of the truth, no spin, no public deception - no sir! It's all right there, for the masses to consume like good little puppets.

So, Mr. American-hating MBA, since it's another quarter of sunshine and rainbows at the world's #1 PC company, and there is oodles of profit to be had, that means there shouldn't be layoffs, right? Oh, right – that's the status quo that the good little slaves of the People's Republic of Lenovo have to endure. No changing there! Just keep your head down work those 80+ hour weeks for less than you're worth, and be happy you get to lick the boots of the bean-counting business-types that make the "tough decisions" like laying off anyone to save their own a$$ and get that big bonus. Yep. life is good at Lenovo if you're a back-stabbing two-faced corporate clown.

Nice, top level inputs using bad language and name calling, well done.

Another record breaking quarter, and number 1 in PCs across the globe.

That is the truth, you poor guys cant handle it.

Why not ask to be made redundant and go find that dream job elsewhere.

One thing you might have noticed is that there were several types of posts to obfuscate and confuse the discussion of layoffs starting around 2020's big layoff season.

2020 was also the same year that Leno stopped disclosing real numbers of layoffs to news outlets.
Also note that posts from this very site are often quoted wral techwire etc.

It is not coincidental. There are those that would like this site censored into oblivion as well. Sadly they will have to retreat back behind the great firewall for now to be fully protected from any mentions of something so "seditious" as the truth.

"do people think the company owes them a living"

Pretty sure that's what a company is supposed to do, genius... You work for them, they pay you. It's frequently called "making a living".

The continual sh!t posting by you - do you think anyone believes you? Oh, and I'm still waiting on all those numbers you keep talking up on every thread... You're all talk and no substance – no wonder you love Lenovo so much.

Record breaking numbers on everything, and a clear winning strategy,
Sure some people in the non=performing segments might get laid off,

The continual whining on here, do people think the company owes them a living.
