Thread regarding Kroger Co. layoffs

Kroger closing more stores

I'd like to know if this is an isolated incident or are they closing more stores these days without making any major announcements?

"Kroger will close both its Greene County grocery stores within the coming month, the company said Wednesday."

@nqjw+1apkpqRs Just to be safe, be on the lookout for new job postings in other places. Things aren't that bad yet, but it's good to be prepared. Wish you the best of luck.

Yeah I work for Ralph’s in California, and I agree with everything you guys have said ,the company doesn’t want customers in their stores ,yes my hours have been dramatically cut and now I have no health insurance, this company doesn’t care about it’s people , the management won’t talk to me about trying to straighten the mess out and get me back on track, I’ve worked for them now for. Over twenty years, I’ve never seen it this bad, what’s going to happen to my job ,I’d like to know, any advice would be appreciated, Laura ,california

Totally agree they are cutting hours so bad that people are quitting like flies. But yet expect yhe same results with less people. Management has become mean and people are quitting because of that. Its all about the dollar and upper management bonuses. Employees don't count yet they have worked at stores through the pandemic whilst corporate head office workers have and are working from home. How is that equal rights. The company is like hunger games the well paid management with bonuses whilst the workers slave away with not enough compensation. Since Dave Dillion and Seconia are gone the company has gone downhill.

I agree. We are given new scan tools. They work great. Took half of my filling hours. Instead of seeing strawberries needs to be filled. Grabbing strawberry fast mover cart and filling the case. Now I get to scan and make a list. Go to the back and scan everything to put it on the cart. Then take out to the display and scan it as I fill it. Scan 3 times. How does that save me time? No, just an excuse to cut hours again. So... rodney can buy more stock and get a bigger bonus.
All it says to me is customers and employees mean nothing. Not important.
There is a silver lining. Can't hire anyone to work for the little hours, no chance of full time, make less than Walmart. Hard to get layed off if I am the only one in a department doing $90 K to $100 k.

Both stores totaled 46 employees feel bad for them but Kroger doesn’t really want that small of a volume store hard to make $$$$

The company is cannibalizing itself to fund its online ambitions. As much as the company likes to prattle on about how much it values its customers, it doesn't actually want them in their stores. Everything it is doing, from cutting hours to spending millions on cool robots says so. They are the most two faced, duplicitous company I have ever worked for. Nothing they say can be taken as truthful.
