Thread regarding Refinitiv layoffs

Layoffs question

People were mentioning inevitable major layoffs a few months ago but nothing has happened so far. Did that rumor fizzle out or are those layoffs still a possibility?

"technology debt is enormous" - I like this comment. Never investing to stay current. Always another bandaid.

Oh, there are going to be layoffs for sure. 1st round probably around June, then second one in few months after. Probably the Refinitiv classic layoff round around Christmas. Then the final one in Q1/Q2 2022.

I just hope I'm going to be made redundant. I've been with this company too long, it's a pity what happened with it. All sensible guys let go already. Now only the beancounters leading the company. The cost is all that matters, outsourcing everything to TCS. Product does not matter, technology debt is enormous, most of the people that knew anything are gone, and the people making the decisions are still leading. Shocking. This company is destined to fail.

If I'm not going to be made redundant by Q2 2022, I'll just quit. No longer wasting my life in this sorry company. The eventual redundacy package, kept me in this toxic place way too long. I just want to make it to the end of COVID craziness, and I'm gone.

They might also decide to not layoff anyone ... they already lost so many people. Now they have to deal with outages and damage on the brand

I simply told my manager to put me at the top of the list for next round of redundancies.
In conversation I also jokingly mentioned if it would help my cause if I got a partially achieved this year and should I work towards it , also did he have any tips on betting such a grade :–)
Guess what happened?
I got the redundancy within 6 months after 14 years of service and on the Reuters terms for payout.
Now happily retired.

So don’t just quit , try and get the redundancy and a healthy payout.

The lucky ones will get a payoff and start a new career in a company that treats its staff well, instead of trying to manage them out.

Lists being signed off at the moment, announcements will come roughly in line with the next layer of the org being published, expect end of this month through May.

Or at least I haven't heard about anything major taking place, correct me if I'm wrong.
