Thread regarding Disney layoffs

Why is Disney So PC?

Why is Disney only PC? Will it cause additional issues for cast members? Who will be most impacted and lose they’re jobs in the next round coming soon? Why are most cast members especially in the parks not following four of the five keys?

I believe what the OP and other responders were speaking of is that the 2020 Disney furloughs and layoffs are deeply entwined with the current political climate, not just the Covid climate. It's a good and bad situation. It's obvious, from media releases and Board decisions, that Disney will be "woke" in it's call-backs, rehiring and hiring. Good for the minorities, bad for the rest.

I still don't know what or why PC has to do with layoffs. I was hoping that someone with inside information could shed some light on the statement "lose they’re (their?) jobs in the next round coming soon" as I don't see any evidence of that. Either, spreading rumors, or teasing the audience out here.

I have spent my last dollar on anything owned by disney. Go woke and go broke... no sympathy for anyone that works there and believes that the company’s purpose is to be a SJW. Your job is to entertain. Nothing more, nothing less. Use your own time to fly the rainbow and antifa flags.

The response was in the context of the original post. If PC is politically correct, why will that “cause additional issues for cast members,” and why that will impact them and “lose their jobs in the next round coming soon”? This site is about layoffs or issues related to that; so, it appears that someone may have inside information that there is going to be another round of layoffs?
For the department that I know, all the people that were on furlough have been called back, Disneyland will be open soon, and in previous posts, someone said that he was called back after being laid off, and another one that he said he was called back at least part–time and attractions, or something like that. I can see that when the business picks up again, they will hire more people from this point on
So, each department is different; I don’t think that they will call back people that were laid off, but maybe there are exceptions as anything else. And I don’t believe that HR has issued “directives not bother applying.” (not sure exactly what this means, laid–off people no bother applying?) HR handles the administrative, legal, and labor laws related to employment only. If such a directive exists, it is from the executive level, but that is not politically correct.
In summary, just two things:

  1. does anyone have inside information that there will be more layoffs “in the next round coming soon”?
  2. and one thing for sure: move on

So @aqf+1asPpdeE (comment below)... When employed by a company, Disney or not, employees are not suppose to follow the company's guest relations (customer service) training? In the case of Disney, cast members are not suppose to follow safety, courtesy, show and/or efficiency training that Disney is world renown for, at least until now. I agree people bring their own values and culture to any type of setting, but this is a workplace and, if employed, one should honor those values... that's a part of what they are being paid for.

Also, I'm sure PC means politically correct. Disney has become an incredibly liberal–sided company. Facts/Examples: • Tattoos, etc. Allowed. • Progressive Gender Identity Acceptance • Affirmative Action/Inclusion Quota Requirements (set by the Board and followed by HR to a tee) • CEO • Millions to BLM •"Cloak and Dagger" on Disney’s Freeform channel, and so much more. The only thing Disney does not accept is being overweight or obesity at Corporate is rarely accepted and were/are the first to be let–go at Corporate, no matter how high–performed and "loved" by their peers.)

People are losing their real jobs right now. Think of all the “entertainers” that are working Attractions for 2021 & Beyond, etc. Think if all the amazing CPs and even Professional Interns working AdventHealth temperature checks (for thankfully more than Disney paid them, though hoping to come back, likely never). And, getting yelled at by guests constantly!!!! Also, one replier to the OP, asked about PC. Disney has openly, nationally, internationally, been 100 percent clear on that... Just saying, .LMs! YES! Layoffs are coming, literally and/or through calls to not bother “applying” because of HR directives. My advice... move forward!!!!✨✨

I am also curious as to what you mean by “next round coming soon”...

Excuse my ignorance, but I am a bit confused with your post:

  1. What do you mean by PC? politically correct? Or are you using a different acronym for something else?
  2. If that means politically correct, how will that impact the cast members?
  3. Losing their jobs in the next round coming soon? I think that they are done with the layoffs. Or, do you know something? Can you share please.
  4. And, cast members not following the 4 keys? Is there someone watching and enforcing those 4 keys? I thought that was only a corporate indoctrination for the executives to promote and look good. Corporate policies are guidelines for the workplace, but you can’t change the behavioral essence of the people in general. Unconsciously, people behave according to what they learned in their lives; and those 4 keys may not mean anything outside the workplace.

Again, sorry if didn’t get what you mean by PC. If it is something else, apologies.
