Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

This site is hilarious

Some of the employees of this company are clearly delusional and the elated “go union!/union strong” mentality is pathetic and equally amusing. When are you people going to stop wasting your time on this s––t hole and start looking for better opportunities? “Union strong!! I have protection!!” Lmao bunch of losers.

I will agree with the above post I love my customers and what I do ! How ever this job and career is over, every one knows this. It’s not fiction anymore but a reality that are days are numbered. It’s sad in a way but I know for myself I’ll have to make a decision to leave. When everyone including good supervisors get let go. It’s a done deal. More contractors then in- house techs. They are getting trained by our own trainers. Sad but true. Management has no answers I feel like that they know it’s over and don’t want to say it or accept it. Good luck every one

Unfortunately it’s not easy to leave I have no choice I finally found something, it’s any extremely hard decision, However there is no future here anymore. Altice easily ruined a lot of lives. But I am damm sure mine won’t be one of them. It’s not easy life throws curve ba--s But you will survive There is definitely a better life after this place I wish everyone the absolute best. We all worked very hard to be successful. Unfortunately this co ruined it So let them use the untrained scabs to make them money This place will fail indefinitely

you can't compare leaving 4 years ago to leaving last year or even this year during Covid. The world is upside down. I left last year and it took me about 6months to land something somewhat decent but the job kinda blows. I am still looking but it's to that easy. If you're just a cable guy with a high school diploma, it is not easy ti even land something at $20-$25 an hour right now. Everyone always talks about their "amazing opportunity" but never shares them. If you true cared, you would be wiling to help.

I left about four years ago and it was hard to leave at first because I was getting paid really well, but I thought about the long term and had a amazing opportunity. So I took the pay cut but now I’m making better money and I love my job in the long run my family doesn’t have to worry about anything I’m literally stress free. wasn’t worth it to me to stay at altice even if I did get paid well there I don’t have the aggravation stress and don’t have to worry about when I’ll be let go. Opportunities are out there u just have to do the leg work to get them. To me to say u won’t leave because you won’t make that money anywhere else is just an excuse to be lazy and not look for another career do your self a favor and try. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

I agree ☝️ we are trying to become union but I’m not really sure what is going to come of it, There is no advancement and every one lies to your face Especially if you work on Long Island. There are customers waiting 10 days or more for service calls! I’m embarrassed by the way this place operates, the good management team is gone, Who ever is left has no direct answers on how to operate. Do your Job in 42 minutes ? Get Real unfortunately I am forced to find something else, with out a crystal ball 🔮. I WILL NOT FAIL MY FAMILY FOR SCABS

Gentlemen and who ever else still works here. I know first hand how hard it is to leave. We are a union shop with less members than Burger King has. There are more Scabs then us running the show. My advice is to get out especially if you’re young. You will not make anything of your self here. This is a cheap a–s company with rules that change like your underwear. Management knows that they are done ✅ If they have ba––s they will tell You the same. Protect your future and family most important!

We all started at $15 or lower those $0.50 raises add up after 15+ years you id––t. I guess is something wrong with that tho, lol. Some a–ho–e that can’t beat the facts will say something about my spelling or say that I’m a company management troll

Things get a little rough and you all just roll over?

As long as the checks still clear every other week I know I’m not finding another job that pays over $35/hr with just a high school education.

To me that’s everything worth fighting for. Funny thing is for all the ish talk here I think I’ve seen maybe 10 people at the most quit over 20 years

  • I dont know where you work but most of "us" make 50% of that at best.I have a sneaking suspicion if "they"actually paid their workers what they were worth unilaterally, most of this website would be null and void. You cant have 1 guy making 25$ or 35$+ as claimed, than the next guy(performing THE SAME JOB) makes a cool 15$ with GUARANTEED .49 cent raises anually and claim that were all one company with one goal.It is devisive in nature and its deceiving and bad business practice.Bet the customers will still get hit with a 20$ increase in their bill though.Whatever it takes to make ensure youre VPs make 20$ million+ bonuses.Meanwhile youre average worker toils to pay his/her

bills.

Just so all know that some of the best supervisors cable had, that were laid off are working at Vision pro So think 🤔 about that. Now where will you end up. You must see the writing on the wall by now. We can union up all we want. The end result is Altice does not want us. It sucks but not much to do about this anymore.

My point is you just don’t roll over, but where are we going to advance to? By the way we are a Union shop. I’m not against anyone we all are in this together But how is it that almost 40 people on Long Island left last year, with a union No one had answers. You called the union the answer was I DONT KNOW what to tell you. You called HR no answer or response. You asked management they tell you to take the money and run. I don’t have the answers However I’m tired of worrying every day about this place. It’s not a healthy working environment anymore. I’m physically sick to my stomach every morning coming here and this should not be ok.

Just checking to see when your growing your pair. Telling others to leave when you haven’t yet. Makes total sense . Hopefully soon . Not looking forward to working w a stubborn veteran of the company who can’t see the advantages of coming together . See if Verizon techs want to dump their union bc I’m sure Verizon tried a few things this company had tried . Say it’s not the same. Then ask the Altice shops that are union if they want out . Its amazing some think a union is stupid after what this company has put us through . Give up that’s your answer . No reason you can’t go union and still look for another job. Might as well make the best of it while we’re here .

Post ID: @3xcf+1aswVqLk

No one ☝️ can be this stupid. You’re fighting for a job where management will end working for contractors. They know it They will tell you straight up if there not safe neither are you. Omg grow a pair and get out. I don’t understand. The writing is clearly written every where. Why work for a company like this. I did my 28 years and I’m getting out. Remember grass is greener on the other side!

Piscataway your DONE ✅ Go get your union and fight for a job that doesn’t give 2 sh––s about you! There aren’t enough of you to succeed in any thing Why would you bother to continue to fight, when there is nothing else to fight for. What are you fighting for? Promotion LMAO . Supervisor spot LMAO, You have a better chance of getting hit by lightning then having a job within a year, But good luck with this!

Not too bad only about a little over 1000 complaints with Better BUISNESS bureau. In only a few months. Way to go Altice

FYI currently 3 contractor companies working in union areas, Tri–wire, vision Pro and Connect one. Good luck I’m leaving There is no chance I’m going to work and have to worry every day about this job. This is the most bizarre way to operate. But this company will fail under this current operation.

OSHA will be making site inspections. Probably in the upcoming week make sure you have everything you need PPE ETC. Show them routes, time frames, lunch , bathroom breaks. They would like to hear from more personal. Don’t hesitate to call it’s your life. Advise if you were denied any batteries or safety equipment, or if (equipment hast to be ordered) Union does nothing about this problem But OSHA will. This is the Law

We were a few votes shy last time .. Not this time ..!!! Piscataway boys .. keep your ears on. CARDS ARE COMING..!! Sign them and send them in . Or go to IBEW .com and fill it out send it in. Union will save jobs . Ask your friends in NJN how they called back techs in union shops .

You wish this was a post from management. Do you actually think any of those as–––––s give enough of a fu–k to get on this site and start posting? This is not a “you’re fine working with no contact” post. This is a “Altice is a dead end and it’s time to get the he–l out” post. Most people have figured this out. You on the other hand, not so much.

This company sucks!!! I'm glad I stopped wasting all my time and energy on this place and used it instead to focus on finally getting out of this hole. Best choice I ever made. I hope everyone else starts to wake up and do the same because there is nothing left to fight for.

Post ID: @1ees+1aswVqLk

This post is 100 percent correct There are more contractors then in house techs . Union should of been done years ago, but no one listened . There is not enough union techs Vs contractors. I know of at least 4 more guys leaving Long Island which will bring the head count lower. My advice is to start looking for a better career, You won’t last more than another year if you’re lucky. Stay safe and good luck

Union busting makes it to this site . Unions won’t help you except with getting better raises , better protection from layoffs. Lock your benefits into a contract so they can’t just be taken away just because they want to. All things that already happened and could have been prevented or slowed. No ones saying it’s perfect but coming together is better than nothing .

So true this is entertaining, just like me asking for a new lanyard for my bucket for 3 months already. Always told sorry I’ll order it or we don’t have any. I’m leaving anyway so at this point I don’t give a s––t. Unreal how Long Island shops came this way
