Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Lowe’s National Hiring Day?

Is May 4. At the location where I’m at people are literally quitting faster than they can hire them. I’ve never seen it this bad.

Our store serves LUNCH on the weekends, to keep employees.

Spot on...

Right now at my location we're unable to keep people they just hired and the long term employees are quitting. We're missing 70+ employees compared to this time last year. Top it off by our DM and SM consistently berating associates for not matching last year's numbers.

It's hard to keep new hires when we no longer have an HR department in the store and the Scheduling Admin doesn't give a hoot about doing any work related to the HR function.

Curious, what is "the hedge fund"? Also you are a off on how and why hedge funds work.

With the intellectual level of the current Lowes management { the best and the brightest}, I'm surprised the "hiring event" hasn't been changed to "Harn Event">

This was not a problem Lowes created. It was created by the hedge fund. The reason lowes doesn't learn from other corporate failures is Lowes is now run by the same people that caused those failures. Marv is raising stock prices so the hedge fund guys can get their profits when the stimulus ends and they start dumping their stock as the price goes down. I believe the only reason that this hasn't already happened was the pandemic bumped sales numbers up artificially.

The Plan is never about saving Lowes. After the kids from Hoffman Estates squeeze as much profit out to satisfy their greedy Hedge Fund Masters , our beloved Dear Leader will announce his retirement and sail off into the sunset, along with small hands, and the other deconstructionist's . Lowes will be kaput.

It’s that way all over the country. Finding help at the wages Lowe’s pays is next to impossible. If you can get hired off the street for two or three dollars more per hour than at Lowe’s, then why would you bother?

There was a time that Lowe’s had more associates than they needed and people from other retailers were trying to get in. But Lowe’s simply never bothered to raise their wages. They got lazy and greedy. Instead of building a business based on knowledgeable people, expert advice and good customer service, they decided to save money and hire anyone they could at cheap wages. We now have a building of low wage part time associates with no benefits who honestly couldn’t give a d@mn. (It hasn’t stopped the idi*ts on the Lowe Down from pulling up their red map every week and whining about their low LTR scores though.)

So until it occurs to the m0r0ns in North Carolina that they can’t run a business on a long term basis like this, we’re stuck with the staffing levels we have and the kind of people we can get. And since their stock has been going up like crazy lately, I wouldn’t bother waiting for them to come to this realization anytime soon. They’re too busy rolling around in their bonuses to notice that this can’t last like this. Home Depot had to go through this realization too, but unfortunately we seem determined to follow Home Depot’s lead, even when it leads us down a rabbit ho–e. I swear to god, we seem absolutely oblivious to other retailers and their failures because we do the same things they’ve done in the past. It’s like we have some kind of learning disability that makes us unable to chart our own path and learn lessons from others. It’s exasperating to watch these decisions.

Anyway, get ready for a bumpy ride. We’ll be raking in the cash while the stimulus lasts and then they’ll start knuckling us all under to comp these numbers later. Everyone enjoy your bonuses now, you won’t be seeing them much longer, unlike the j*rk wads in corporate. You only get bonuses for failure if your at the corporate headquarters, not retail stores.
