If you think you're being discriminated against because you're the wrong color, gender, nationality, or unrelated to somebody senior...

  • you should really consider the possibility that you're being discriminated against because you're stupid and lazy.

We talk a lot about unproductive deadwood around here. It's you we're talking about.

Anything happening tomorrow (Thursday, 5/27)? Or no?

Every year, for at least the past three years, they had a big RA on the Thursday before Memorial Day in the US.

Layoffs in GTS have started. In my team of about 50 people, 25 have gotten the call. 30/90 days.

180k x 300k per employee = 54 billion The law of big numbers takes into effect all non-productive employee types (managers, researchers, accountants, etc etc) IBM has to get to 300k for each and every employee “on average” to be competitive. That’s the law of big numbers

@vjg+1b0Flcxl

the 300K per head is the average across all employee... there are too many employees not making a penny for the company... managers included. So, if you are actually in Sales or Services, you individual quota is a lot more than 300K.

The working number that IBM has to remove in 2021 and 2022 via layoffs, spin-offs, retirement, attrition, and over stuffing GTS is 100k more or less. Approx 180k headcount is the number that new IBM has to get down to to be competitive. (think 300k of revenue per new IBM employee). Management has been given their marching orders and you will see them work towards this. GTS spin-off will work toward 210k per head as they are a low margin business. New IBM, will have to achieve 300k per head as they are pursuing a much higher margin business. It’s the law of big numbers. Every thriving company needs to be close to or exceed 300k per head. That means big downsizing for old IBM, and perfect execution of the new Redhat strategy for new IBM. Remember in his prior life, Whitehust was a CFO in a commodity business. He understands Wall Street expectations, and how to get there. He is just taking what IBM has in inventory, and maximizing his strategy against it. YEP its going to hurt Good luck to all as we have reached the hard part of the restructuring. Change
