Thread regarding Pearson PLC layoffs

HR is a joke

Is there anyone who is happy with HR? Have they ever helped you? Or perhaps the better question is: how many problems do you have with HR considering that it is already clear to almost everyone that they are not here because of us?
I worked in another company where this department was also quite useless, but it seems to me that these here have exceeded all limits of incompetence.

HR works for the company; they do not care about the employees. Younger people need to learn that right away.

After a career spanning more than 25 years in the business, I can honestly say that I met at least one person across functions who I would categorize as very very smart and good at their job. Sales, Finance, Operations, Editorial, etc. No one in HR came close to competent. In fact, the vast majority were incompetent.

Now that I think of it technology...especially the CTO level is a close second to HR.

HR at Pearson consists of the most lazy, incompetent, gossip-filled complacent people I have ever met! They only care about themselves and who’s a-s they need to kiss in order to maintain their comfortable position and/or keep their “favorite fellow a-s kissers” safe from the chopping block.

Don’t even bother to go to HR with any issues, especially sensitive/confidential nature or manager/employee conflicts; they will gossip to anyone who will listen and run to your manager before you even get back to your desk (for those still in the office) or chat them to set up a call while you are still meeting virtually. Bunch of backstabbers with no care/respect for anyone.

HR never has any answers, are quick to point you to someone else (typically another HR person that is clueless) or tell you to open a ticket/email PPS so you end up in limbo for weeks. Deflection is their best attribute!

Don’t think for a minute that they give a sh-t about you!!! It’s all about themselves.

HR is there for one reason. To protect the company. Dont ever let any HR person tell you they give a rats a-s about you. Because they dont. Most have zero business sense. The vast majority of HR could not describe what the average employee at Pearson does in a day.
