Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

Was it hard for anyone to make a decision to leave?

I know some people who left here after the first red flag. And I wish that was my case too, but I’ve been working here for too long and I think that’s why it’s hard for me to make a decision. Especially since I know that no company is ideal. I got an offer that is pretty solid and I know this is not a company to stay in, but I still hesitate.

TAKE YOUR OFFER AND RUN. Leaving at the first red flag was the best decision I ever made. Gulfstream is by far THE most toxic work environment I have ever experienced. How anyone continues to work there day after day is beyond me. You deserve better and you will find better if you look elsewhere. Believe in yourself and your skills, abilities, and talent and go find yourself a job with a company that sees you as an actual person and NOT just a number.

You wrote that you have been there a long time so that puts you on the layoff list. If you are well paid and competent, be concerned. You are at more risk of being on the next layoff list. My suggestion is to define the timeframe for your planned remaining work life. What do you want to accomplish in that timeframe? More “career”? If so, is it long enough to go elsewhere and build a career before retiring? Do you care about career or just need a higher probability of a consistent paycheck for a few more years? How long would it take for you to “break even”? How do you define break even? Pay? Vacation? How important is it for you to enjoy your work? What is the impact of relocating? Do you know where you want to retire? Maybe this let’s you go ahead and move there so you won’t need to when you do. No one is building pension anymore so that doesn’t matter. Map out a stay path and a leave path and list pro’s and con’s of each. That might help with your decision. I left and haven’t been this happy, content and relaxed in a very long time. The environment is toxic and will wear on your mental and physical well-being. PN and JA at corporate think they are the smartest people in the room and the LT members aren’t leaders. They are more like the 7 dwarves without a Snow White so I don’t see it getting any better soon.

Run. Don’t walk. It will take GAC decades if ever to recover from the harm this LT has inflicted. Look at the current mess. They’re all still there. Does anyone think these are the people to right the ship? Even if they are replaced soon I’d expect nothing but woke nonsense being sent down from Falls Church. Time to bolt, people aren’t uprooting their lives and family because they had a bad day at the office.
