Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

Who is trying to keep the job?

And who's hoping to get layoff?
I am almost certain that there are more people in this company who secretly want layoff because the working conditions have never been worse.
I could never believe that one day I would want to be laid off. I hope that I will be the target and that it will be soon because I am totally demotivated.

@Idgq+1bBknvZo Don't be so sure about that severance. Not only will you likely not get it, they'll probably challenge your unemployment as well. I think Hock sees this as a golden opportunity. Fire 10% of the staff with zero cost.

They are backing 10% of the company into a corner. Take this experimental stuff with no liability on the company, doctors, or the manufacturer "or else." I hope they realize the legal shtstorm this will cause if they go that route. Just give them severance and we will walk away with both middle fingers in the air hoping for your demise.

Yes if you are young then don't bother! The amount of nepotism is getting worse! Some manager wants to only bring over all his buddies from India. Stop wasting money on visas and H1!

You must be young. Take a breath and look at what you want to do. Plenty of better companies out there for the young and hungry. Don't let it mess up your health we have lives outside of this factory. Some like the old Charles days Hock is much more cheap and cruel.

I hate this place now. It sucks the life out of you and any passion you ever had. I have been interviewing elsewhere for weeks and now waiting on several offers. Remember that "Locus of Control" training? If you love command and control and being a robot then more power to you but it's not for me.

Most want to keep their head low and get the RSUs. Other departments only got a fraction of engineering. They throw money at the old mainframe experts who want to retire with no replacements. If you still in 30s or 40s get out while you can don't bother.

@vfua+1bBknvZo i've heard similar stories. you don't want to let your skills atrophy, and not many tech managers see value in what CA is doing...

now...if you're between 60-62 y/o... suck it up and hold on as long as you can. i know a few seasoned guys that are waiting it out...some of these guys know that they'd never get a job elsewhere due to their age, and others that are really good figure..WTF... their attitude is "i know i'm better than my 1st/2nd line and can easily do their jobs...but i'll hang low as best I can..."

one think peeps that are "mid-career" are more fu---d than anyone else....

I am actively interviewing with multiple companies. Do not make the mistake of telling anyone you are unhappy and thinking of leaving even if you have trusted colleagues of many years. My boss probably knows but I don't care and that explains why he treated me like trash all week. I want to get out while still young. Tons of other younger developers are doing the same.

Many of us loyal for years and good workers but no raises again won't adjust comp when market moving ahead and COL going up. Sc--w that noise can get big raise and work remote

Its a mixed bag. Some older employees want a package for their 20+ years instead of resigning and others want to stay for the bonuses.
