Future JCPennney Store Closings

Any predictions on which JCPenney stores could close in the future?

If your mall is Simon or Brookfield you are most likely NOT closing.
If you work in a solid to sub-solid mall you are not closing.

If you work in a mall that has 10 stores left: kiss your bu-t goodbye soon. BUT JCP is as stubborn as Bath and Body Works to wait until “the end” so that could be based on lease expires or when the mall just shut down.

I don’t expect mass closings until February. So unless your lease expires before then you’re probably staying open until Christmas.

hmm wonder about strong stores that aren't in a Simon or Brookfield mall. Our store is in a mall owned by a company out of Australia.

Stores that don’t make good money will close as their leases expire over the next few years. The store fleet has been trimmed to mostly decent locations, stores that remain in dead malls may be at risk too. But overall, I don’t expect mass closure lists like we have in the past.

If your store is in a Simon or Brookfield store, you’re guaranteed to be safe. That was the whole reason why they bought the company in the first place.
