Thread regarding Cummins Inc. layoffs

Focus on what’s important

While still employed I’ve been networking my bu-t off and “shopping” around for prospective employers. In an interview I’ve had recently I was informed that still being employed was in my favor as opposed to most. I’ve kept my resume updated and I try to be positive while focusing on what’s important instead of the negative. Hopefully everything will work out and I’ll be gone soon with no bitterness, unlike some.

You will find something. I was "laid off" in Dec 2015 an now making 27.5K more that I did at Cummins and never looking back. When you hire in there, you are paid decently for your experience, however, for the most part that is the salary that you will make forever and when you don't get COLAs due to downturns you slowly fall farther and farther back from your counterparts in the industry. There are not pay "raises" per se, unless you luck into a top 20% rating which you would have to wear out your knees to get. The pay there stagnates.
