Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

What are my chances?

I’ve been in claims for 2+ years and I want to move to another BU to be able to add more to my skill set. I’ve never contemplated it until now. How hard would that be? Will I need to apply internally for other positions or go to my supervisor and ask for a transfer? Do I need to contact HR? I am not sure of the process and not even sure where to look. Any help/advice is welcome.

Do you read this board? You should be trying to leave Allstate, not move within it.

Look at job postings in Talent Connection and see what is out there. If you are in claims just know you will face alot of rejection moving out of claims. However, you may have better luck moving from different adjuster roles.

You aren't required to inform your manager but it is recommended (directly from hr policy guide)

Look at internal job postings. Contract analysts are in demand and moving from claims to policy drafting happens frequently.

Don't bother to apply out of DOC, virtual. Hiring freeze. Dan told me don't bother.

You would want to let your boss know first, then apply internally (go on the internal job site, you can upload resume, cover letter, etc). When you apply it will ask you if you notified your manager. There is an internal webpage that shows the status of your application and a HR rep should call you in a few days to do a pre screen and then you will likely have at least 2 I interviews. (I did mine on a Zoom meeting) Note that you can also get shot down immediately, I applied for another claims job and they didn’t even call me, just got a rejection email. They may not let you go to another BU,
I know claims is hard up for worker bees. Hope this helps, boyo!

Look on the job postings and apply for what you may be interested in. It’s as simple as that. Tell your CSL that you are looking for a job in X, and then if you don’t get it, keep looking for something else and apply for that. Problem is, they can’t afford to let anyone go right now to other departments. You may have to stick it out for a month or two in claims even if you are offered a position in another business unit since claims is imploding and the turn over is so great. Good luck.
