Heard report from inside source out Boston that huge changes are coming , soon cengage will be relying on inside sales out of Kentucky, consolidating districts removing DM's, in report DM's referred to as expendable grocery store clerks. I agree. Vastly overpaid errand boys.

My DM told me after all the profs in committee rejected our lame technology, she told me to start giving blo jobz to win business. I asked her is that how she got to be DM and she said, yep... She actually had the reputation before I even started, had a certain nick name at NES
The DM's at Cengage seem to have the longest tenure in majority of the sales leadership positions. Most of the ones I know have at least 10+ years. Most are "yes" men and women and are too afraid to leave for fear of being asked to be real leaders outside of publishing. I honestly don't know what they do as they don't come to campus, are generalist so don't have any product knowledge, and have no technology or presentation skills. They are not agile nor do they reinvent their skill sets. If the time to lay off district managers are now, it's the right time.
I really don't believe that insulting grocery clerks is appropriate.
Texas water parks don’t have whale tanks, so no
You should have taken that DM in Texas to the water park!
Before last reorg I had an abrasive dm in tx, she / her demanded to visit my campuses with me on a quarterly basis which in itself was a complete waste a time. What made it all unbearable was after a couple of ride a longs my key professors told me to never drag she / her back again because she / her was so shrill, awkward, abrasive and annoying that reasonable people would refuse her company. This left me with the one option of taking she / her to the same flat liners every time, you know the types, they'll talk to anyone junkie bum on the street if they think they have audience... This worked just long enough. Thank you cengage learning for your splendid DM choices, I applaud you.
We call them "grocery clerks" because many who follow the credo and become their own CEO wind up freelancing at Trader Joe's, where their skillset is appreciated!
