Any bets on how many will get laid off on Monday 8/2?

Any bets on how many will get laid off on Monday 8/2? My bet is on SgAS filing bankruptcy on Monday.

Ge-z, I'm all for diversity and acceptance but fcuk me, that will not solve Sungard's problems of pi$$ poor out of date products.

We're already so diverse our customers can't even understand what we're saying half the time.

@shze:
Verizon is doing it big time and is getting praised. I wish we had more diversity training and that would have shown customers we care about everyone, including them, and they would realize we as a company have a deep awareness for micro-aggressions and inequities.

This is a deeply moving comment. Yes, layoffs are painful but lost in all these proceedings is the company's focus on diversity. Something at this point that never got truly addressed at Sungard. Bathroom usage alone was never really explored by the leadership. Sometimes I feel horrible, wondering if a coworker feels marginalized with something like bathroom discrimination. I mean, somebody who is experiencing gender fluidity must have felt left behind but this person is simply undergoing a human experience as gender changes at any time according to the individual. Yeah, I agree that the company should offer more diversity trainings and address these issues head on.

I agree totally. Verizon is doing it big time and is getting praised. I wish we had more diversity training and that would have shown customers we care about everyone, including them, and they would realize we as a company have a deep awareness for micro-aggressions and inequities. That we would always operate with respect and tolerance. I hope it’s still not to late for us to invest in this area.

“One manager I work with even mentioned today that maybe the company will go through another rebranding effort. Like what Wells Fargo did about 2 years ago. You know, give the company a different look to investors, to the world, and emit that feeling we’re doing new things.”

Your manager must be senile because we went through an entire rebranding in 2014. And it makes no sense to pour money into another rebranding process for a company that’s about to have the final nail hammered into its coffin.

@pqvy+1c4XQVvv: “In another thread, there’s mention of a recovery automation project in the planning stages. This is awesome! This could be the gateway to a new product, new sales, a revamped company.”

That is good news. I’m telling you know, I think it’s true the leadership is working off that strategy outline that AB drafted before he left. I believe it or this kind of news won’t emerge. We’re seeing the early stages. No way are we done. This is possibly the beginning.

Seriously I've been hearing this for the last 5 years or more how to get sales back on track. It's obvious there is no way to get sales back up not with the current situation. The products they offer are obsolete, we are basically a colo site, that is it. When are people going to understand that big data sites are thing of the past they suck up huge amounts of electricity and air conditioning and cost a ton of money to operate. Companies can bring all of their operations internal at a much much cheaper price and do their own recovery work. Wake up it's okay to be optimistic don't be foolish.

The story I heard here in the UK is that they spoke with KT to step up up as CEO and he is working with MH to put forth a plan to get sales back on track. Kinda makes sense as AB and MH both had dinner together at kickoff 4 years ago.

“There's always hope but I am falling short on hope.”

That’s how I feel. I don’t want to feel betrayed after all the years of dedication. At least the news from the other poster, about a plan for a turnaround from AB, is being looked at. It’s at least a glimmer of light.

we are bleeding out customer like crazy, cutting back every which way you can, closing facilities and taking advantage of scooting all who we can to remote in order to have a smaller foot print...I don't know guys. The writing on the wall is not good! There's always hope but I am falling short on hope.

I devoted so many years here, gave and gave more to SgAS, which I totally believed in for so long. I don’t want to feel betrayed. You got to figure there’s a plan like what that other poster is saying. There’s got to be a path forward.

Post ID: @klas+1c4XQVvv: “I have worked with many LGBTQ people at SunGard. They weren't hired because of that, they were hired because they could do the job.”

Yeah but they didn’t take the hiring far enough like google or yahoo. They should’ve upped the ante on that. Culturally, it should’ve also been showcased more. Other companies have the pride flag, it’s colors, everywhere. They even have brown bag sessions where they have guest speakers talking about different cultures, orienting people to tolerance for other cultures like Islam. We should have done those things, it would have gotten good media coverage, attracted more customers because we would look so modern and cool. Oh well, it’s all water under the bridge now.

“So where is AB now? Pretty sure he saw the writing on the wall and jumped ship.”

Look, AB had to do what’s right. No way was he thinking of jumping ship. Story I heard is that he had ideas, forward thinking ideas, that was hard for the BOD to follow. But i’m sticking to the news that he did leave behind an outline and the company is gearing up to follow it. I believe this story. I want to believe it. It’s a motivating factor.

In Pune, I have heard news that a remaining executive from previous leadership team wanted to consult a former colleague for planning strategy but current leadership is unsure or does not want that. Perhaps that is where this other news that a plan created by Alfred is stemming from. I think we are not allowed to use full names so I will leave it like that. But it’s all a confusion of news.

Did the Babylon Bee write this ?

From @iyov+1c4XQVvv: “I hope it’s true HR is fixing the company culture. Focusing on diversity and inclusion like what some people here have heard.”

I’m all for that. Too bad they’re thinking about it now when the company is practically dead. I was really hopeful they would push the LGBTQ hiring. I told my manager I wanted the honor, for example, to sit next to a transgender woman and work closely together. That would’ve been appealing to customers. What’s more, kids are learning about these diverse aspects of society in their school so I don’t understand why HR never jumped on it sooner.

No matter how you look at it, this company is dead. No new products as far as I can tell. We're basically functioning with a skeleton crew. They already cut back the 401k contributions. Didn't renew the lease for corporate headquarters. I also learned they're looking at all sorts of ways to cut costs like getting rid of plants in the office. This all spells not just disaster but more layoffs. Good luck everyone.

It seems like the small handful of people causing the problems keep hanging around, while those who are willing and able to help get laid off or leave after meeting the brick walls blocking any real change.
It's not a recipe for anything good.

@dnzq+1c4XQVvv why would a new board and new leadership follow a plan from the previous regime that ultimately failed? It’s been a sinking ship for the past 15 years.

“If you made a bet, you lost your money”

That’s right, buddy. Agree completely. Just FUD being thrown around. No way are we going down. Just no way. There’s still a lot of potential here, and we even got job postings for product-related roles. My manager’s right. Things are brewing. He assured me the company is operating under a strategic outline that bin ford drafted before he left.

@cortez, I heard the same buzz about revamping the culture. We’re pioneers in DR so it’s worth moving forward and make it all progressive like other tech companies.

@7hiq+1c4XQVvv They know now that they won't make plan. Plan was to grow revenue by 5 million. Sungard will be lucky to end the year with less than a 5 million decline in revenue.

Honestly, f them too. All you are is a trained monkey for them as far as they're concerned. Good luck, if you're not settled somewhere else already.

My manager was kind enough to tell my teammates I'd moved on to another opportunity. Made for a couple awkward moments when some of them contacted me to congratulate, or chide me for not saying goodbye, etc...
My favorite part had to be the customers who called or texted my cell after the fact, because nobody had bothered to tell them either.
It's such a caring company.
