If anyone thinks they will benefit from all the cuts, ultimately everyone will lose their retirement. Think about it.

Once the conductors are gone the retirement will suffer from even less employees paying in. Then the government will have their chance to combine social security and rr retirement. Then they will raid that just like social security.

Once the conductor craft is gone so should the union ! Enough of the weak-a-s excuse “we did our best “ they had their chance to strike and put an end to this , but their weak and corrupt since they sold out the 5 main crew for a FRED !

Trip optimizer will run a train, but it won’t be operating autonomously before I retire and it won’t happen nationwide Australia runs it where no one lives. Besides my territory doesn’t even have PTC yet let alone Trip. So it will be longer than you think.

Trip optimizer is where engineers will come from. That will be the reason to go fully autonomous.. no one to move up. No one to fight back or pay out. Engineers will slowly retire off. Mark it down. Thee technology is already there. Look at what other countries are already doing.

Observations: no, the trucking industry aren’t going to take a lot of work from the RRs because of fuel prices and if you recall a few years back that even the bigger truck companies struggled paying their fuels bills. Secondly the conductors will not be eliminated by “utility Carmen” even though it’s rumored in their contract. One, most Carmen are gone, and two where will the engineers come from?

Conductors will end up being a ground based position, but what will happen is those who are left will drag their feet and cause long delays to try to sc--w the company and show what a bad idea ground based conductors are.. only to have all conductors eliminated and make the ground based position a utility carman.

Conductors will be a ground based position with a “territory” to cover to take care of knuckles and air lines.

NS has priced themselves too high for a lot of businesses to where they’re shipping my trucks now so the whole theory of the country coming to a screeching halt is laughable. There’s literally company’s ripping up tracks into their industries and turned the rail bed into a road for trucks to come in and out of

Let them buy us out for 150k each. The'll implement the jacked up plan and when the country comes to a screeching halt the NTSB or a PEB will intervene and make them put the conductors back on with seniority intact.
The rule book will make you rich. Problem is there are always those gung ho guys that rip and run just to get off a few minutes early, those same guys will end up dismissed over a rule violation and wonder why the company who's back they had didn't come to their rescue. then they will blame the union for not doing our job,.

T&E contract negotiations 2021:

Company: we demand immediate elimination of the conductor craft. You understand your borrowed time is up and you’re not in any serious position to bargain.

Union: there are just a few things our highest level officials ask for to save you the trouble of going to a PEB and still getting your way.

Company: oh? What’s it going to take to put ink to the deal today?

Union: we each need a new pro-grade bass boat, a new F350 to haul it with and a new pole barn to store it in. Just want to be able to have an enjoyable retirement ya know?

Company: done.

One man crew, that will be awesome on the line of road. Airlines or knuckles breaking what then? Wait until the carman or someone from the shop shows up. One big delay may change their minds. Totally messed up.

Well you would think the very first thing the union would ask for is stop the layoffs. Bring back a certain amount through out the company. Hahahaha You know as well as I do they will only take care of themselves at the top first. Then the people who actually need this will get scraps and the top of the union will make it seem like they fought and got a good deal. You know like polish the TU-D before you sell it. Hahahaha

Yes the Arbitrator ruled the SMART Union (conductors) must negotiate Crew Size with the Carriers. It doesn't mean its happening, BUT the Carriers will make concessions/incentives in other areas of a new contract to get it pushed through. They will not give up on this issue.
